Try running in Safe Mode (there's a checkbox on the launcher) to see if that will at least let you see what's going on.
Regardless, you may need to either install the latest drivers for your video card, or reinstall a known working set of drivers.
I know that I sometimes get black screen issues when running two accounts at once on my system, but that's after I'm already in the game, and is related to whether or not the "bloom" video option is turned on... I doubt that's your problem if you can't even log in.

I had the same issue recently. I accidentally changed the refresh rate on my monitor, which did not match my settings in game. After changing it back...no problems.
Also good to know for future reference.
Hey, I've been playing this game on and off for a long time now, I got a new computer about a month ago and decided to install CoH and play again. When I execute the program though, (after 'Next' on the patcher and accepting the terms) my screen just goes black and I can here the music. I don't suppose anyone can tell me what plugin/software I might be missing?
