Crashes ingame once, then stops even getting in-game
you need to post a Hijackthis report also. do a disc clean up and defrag everything. also try a scan disc.
Tried rebooting, didn't help. |
Check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines
Then post the results of this program:
- HijackThis - it will show us what's running on your computer concurrently with CoH. Click on "Do a system Scan and save a logfile." It will automatically open up Notepad and put the info there. Make sure Wordwrap is off in Notepad (Format > Wordwrap unchecked) before you cut and paste here.
Also, you're down to the last 10% of your hard drive, which starts to freak Windows out. So...
1. Go to control panel and then Add/Remove Programs and get rid of any programs you don't need any more. Also, there's been a slight memory leak in the game, causing it to start out using 800k of RAM and then creeping up to 1.5G of RAM. Even for computers with many times the amount of RAM, hitting the 1.5G mark makes the game unstable. If that's happening to you (check Program Manager stats), then use the command /unloadgfx to flush the memory about once an hour.
2. Go into Windows Explorer (not the Internet Explorer) and right click on your C: drive and chose Properties. Under the General Tab, you'll see a button for Disk Cleanup, run it and get rid of deleted (recycle bin) and temp files.
3. Under the General Tab, make sure Indexing is not selected. Unless you need to do quick searches of your documents on a regular basis, you don't need this. It may take a while to propagate the un-indexing to all the sub-folders.
4. Go to the Tools Tab and click on the defrag button. Run the defragger. It may take an hour or two to defrag. Make sure the computer doesn't power down during it (you'll find power options where you change the screen saver -- right click on desktop...).

Hijack this log after it started doing that again (sometimes the problem goes away after a while.)

I've got my stalker Artimis Setelana. She has 317 badges last I checked. Yay!
Also 2 servers worth of alts, 3 of which aren't catgirls. Mew.
In what way did it not help? You couldn't get back into the game? You crashed again right away? Or after another few hours?
Check out this thread, Common Solutions & Posting Guidelines Then post the results of this program:

Did you clean up your hard drive as suggested?
Did you monitor your memory usage by way of Task Manager and try the /unloadgfx to keep RAM usage to under 1.3G?

As soon as the game went fullscreen from the loading bar it crashed.
I defragged, I do have 18.5 gigs free on the drive city is installed on, which is also my os drive.
No I didn't monitor it, as I play full screen and that doesn't work well, but yes, I used /unloadgfx every 10 or so minutes.

OK, then. I'm out of ideas.
You might want to open up a Customer Service ticket and go through their steps and diagnostic tools.

remove the game from the drive the OS is on and install it in another drive. there may be a conflict with having it installed in the same place as the OS. if that doesn't work then yeah, contact support.
Okay, after a few hours of playing city, I get a "city of heroes has encountered a problem and needs to close. The crash occurred in" error.
Yes, it doesn't say where it crashed in.
Any ideas?
Also, here is my CoHhelper thinggy.
