Now, normally I wouldn't come into the PVP area of the forum. Not usually my thing--but I'm trying to be more open and learn more about this area of the game. Seriously, I am. Usually no interest in pvp, but I'm at least mildly curious about it, and have been, well, "dabbling" in it for the past couple of weeks.
Yes, mainly for badging purposes, but, in all honesty, I'm REALLY curious about this side of the game, and to see if it's something that I might want to do every once in a while.
That being said, last night a fairly large group gathered on Justice to see about getting the swiss draw win badge for several people. What ended up was a bunch of badgers trying to get a pvp badge that seemed to have no direction.
The rules for the Swiss Draw match are deceptively simple. One big match, then smaller ones to determine a winner. Through the course of what I think became *Seven hours* we could figure out no rhyme or reason for the winning and losing of the matches. There is nothing in the description of the Swiss Draw match that clearly states what is needed to win the whole thing, or to win even a portion of it. I came to the forums thinking to look at the guides and try and figure it out--but in the Guide to Guides, all the links are broken from the forum move. I'm stuck.
I'd really like to figure this out. Not just for the badge (which would be nice to have, since I left early and didn't get to participate), but for the clarity of a match that seems simple, but is actually probably one of the most convoluted aspects of the game I have seen yet. I'd like to start small with PVP personally, because jumping into a zone or match with a ton of vet. pvp players to me seems pointless and fruitless and utterly demoralizing and not at all fun. However, smaller, one on one matches, 2 vs 2 matches and then maybe more free-for-all styles can start coming after that. The arena badges and the PVP zone badges may seem like a bother (and trust me, I've thought that many a time), but I'm really curious about this swiss draw match now and if it's completely borked to all heck an back right now, or if there is some unknown way that it determines victors and losers.
Please. I guess for *everyone* could someone answer this for me? Or explain a bit clearer than what the wiki says for it? (which is exactly what the "help" in the arena tells you)
