Performance Issues

I posted this before in the wrong forum. I suck at forums apparently! Heh. I hope you folks can help. Thanks ahead of time.

Hello all. Thank you for your time. I'm an older player that has come back recently. Since the last time I played, I've gotten a new computer. A far better one that the last.

Here's the problem. Every time I am in a group, I get the most horrendous lag when we hit up a mob. It isn't your normal, every day MMO lag. It's serious 1 frame every 10 seconds kind of lag. This has puzzled me because I know for sure my computer can run this silly little game. So, here's what I'm working with.

No viruses according to Kaspersky Anti Virus. No spyware according to Spyware Doctor.

If anyone has any ideas on why I might be performing so badly, I would really love that. Thank you for your time.

that looks like a lot of crap running in the background. i'm not sure what needs to be turned off so i'll leave it to someone else who does.

What server do you play on? I play on Freedom and we often mapserve when we fight. The entire team. Not long enough to completely disconnect us, but long enough to have a team wipe if we aren't careful. Not ruling out something on your computer, but just saying that it might be more than just your end.

Badging in a PvP zone?

If you are treasure hunting on a battlefield wearing an enemy uniform, there is a high probability that you will be attacked.

Hello, trojan. That has to go. Go to the forums of Malwarebytes and follow these directions and post your HijackThis log in the HijackThis forum and those more knowledgeable than me will help you from there.

You also should get rid of all that other junk in your start-up registries. They may be 'legitimate' programs, but did Microsoft Messenger, Yahoo, AOL, QuickTime, Java, nVidia, Punkbuster, Apple, AIM, etc... get your permission to install themselves in your start up registries? Probably not. Which makes them *illegitimate* intrusiveware.

Cut and paste your HijackThis into this site for an analysis: http://www.hijackthis.de/

Then go to this site for an explanation: http://pchell.com/support/hijackthistutorial.shtml

Or, you just might do well to go the clean slate route:

1. Make sure you have a Windows OS install disk. (Or wait a few weeks to upgrade to Win7)

2. Back up all your data.

3. Reformat the hard drive.

4. Reinstall Windows and update it. Update all drivers including your motherboard chipset/CPU (go to manufacturer's website).

5. Reinstall your apps and keep running HijackThis as you do so to see who's secretly insunuating themselves into your startup registries.

6. Reinstall your data.

I'd at least 'end task' on PnkBstrA. That's Punk Buster, a piece of anti-cheating software used in a lot of first person shooters.

I've had it cause problems with other games before - running BioShock after Team Fortress 2 caused BioShock to lock up, etc.
