Suggestion on Rewards for broadcast Events

Hello there.

We responded to a broadcast about Giant Monsters in Kings Row. Gian Monsters mind you. Paladins to be specific. Now the Clockwork Paladin is a tough and annoying creature to fight because its.. I don't know a Giant Monster who jumps tall buildings in a single bound... which it did as we chased it across Kings Row. But I digress...

We kill it, and we receive 2 merits. No seriously 2 merits. So we think there has to be a badge for this after all its Giant Monsters in Kings Row. 2 Merits being what we can receive for bosses we think thats just an appetizer well we killed the othe rPaladin and its not the appetizer. 2 Merits is all we got. Now yeah there is the Giant Killer badge but this was an event which was advertised on the Event broadcast. If I want to kill Giants I can goto Pergrine or Eden I don't need a broadcast.

My suggestion:
1. Broadcast only events that are badged or have a reward fitting the kill. 2 Merits is a boss, Arch Villains should be 5 times that because you need a party to kill them and Giant Monsters should be right there with them.

2. If I receive Merit Rewards for killing a giant Monster I should be able to spend those rewards... not look at recipes that will cost me 200 pts of merits or spend 20 (10 times the cost of a giant monster to get a random.)

3. A giant monster should drop one Recipe minimum every time. We killed two and got 1 recipe and 4 reward merits.

4. If I can receive 200 tickets for compelteing a mission in the AE that takes less time then killing a Giant Monster then maybe I should not be making 200 tickets just for completing a mission... or if you don't want to change that maybe I should be making a few more merit rewards for Killing a Giant Monster.

Rant and suggestion almost complete bear with me... Oh look Godzilla... ah well no its only worth 2 Merit points and maybe a recipe for the kill.
2.

The paladin is not the GM to determine this by - he's unique in a way. In order to get the badge, you have to *stop* him from being built. Look for the "Unusual clockwork activity in Kings Row" broadcast, and stop the Monster Construction from being built.

Most other GMs have a badge as well as merits when defeated already, some of which (Eochai and Jack) lead to accolades.

Also, AE tickets are *not* done on the same scale as Merit rewards. Merits are awarded at the end of story arcs and task forces, as well. AE tickets are dropped *in lieu of* other rewards such as recipes and salvage (other than on HOF/DC arcs.) Thus the greater reward.

And, really - 2 merits for a GM that can take moments to take down? That's not fair? It sounds like you had a longer fight on your hands, yes, but I've seen (and participated in) GM fights that lasted under a minute. Now give me a GM that spawns frequently (such as Scrapyard) and a team willing to do so and I'll be making quite a few merits - probably faster than I would doing story arcs.

(Yet another edit: Don't know what Peregrine or Eden has to do with it.. .but those are Monsters, not GMs.)

Thank you for the information on the badge. If there is a badge for it it is worth it, since we missed it we didn't get it. Thats fine.

I dunno, I actaully kinda agree that GMs should be worth a a little bit better of a reward.
Nothing massive mind you. Maybe guaranteed recipe (bronze roll?), and 5 merits for most. That would make it actually worth the time it takes to kill them. Because yes, with a good team a GM goes down fast, but not "two merits" fast.

the one though that they NEED to up the reward on, is Luska. She should be worth at least 18 merits. (because you're technically defeating 9 giant monsters. And even with a couple of good teams, she still takes a while.)

Honestly... yes, yes they do. The only one I can think of that doesn't is Deathsurge, and that's because he runs (or at least used to run) the second you look at him funny, hops onto the rooftops, etc... which is more irritating than challenging in how it draws out the fight. GMs can, and do, drop in less than a minute.

Except Lusca, I agree. That's more of an "event" than a GM.

If they reduced the spawn rate of the GMs back to about where it used to be it wouldn't create any problems to have GMs give out better-than-usual rewards. It would just help to underline GMs as being special events.

With GM events now being announced over the chat system, there's no reason not to reduce the spawn rate: people won't miss out on them like used to be the problem.

...you do realize you just somewhat contradicted yourself, right? The spawn rate didn't go *up* with announcements. In point of fact, several GMs *do* spawn less frequently now (Lusca leaps to mind) because there can only be one of them (in most cases) in the zone. (Which, honestly, brings up another point - PS needs to update the giant monster page, which is pretty incomplete anyway.

(There's supposed to be - I'm assuming the code is broken on some, though, as I've seen multiple Deathsurges, and I *believe* Croatoa may consider "Warring Jack and Eochai" different from the normal spawns since they're part of the war event.)

Besides, even *with* them being announced, few are rapid spawners. I think I see a warning about the Kraken twice a week at best. I don't think I've seen a Jurassik warning in weeks. By contrast, Steel fires, Skyway raves and Scrapyarder riots are practically spammed.

I'd be happy if they just fixed the code surrounding the badge awards for a simultaneous spawn of Jack in Irons and Echoai. I've waded through a couple of those now (on the same character no less) and gotten the badge only for Jack.

Customer support responded "that happens sometimes. Try it again later."

....and so I wait for another zone message.

I'll get you, Geas of the Kind Ones... and your little power, too.

Sorry, I was a bit imprecise: they increased the spawn rate some time before we got the announcements, not at the same time. I hadn't caught that they've since lowered them again, though. I haven't played the game much this year.
