Team/SG Bulletin Board
I like it. One thing, though:
There are those times - and I'm sure you've been there, too - when my well-coordinated and effective team of four is standing outside a mission door and another hero hops up.
Sometimes he's a randomly generated costume with a name like PhatLewt or L337ST3R. Others he's a soon-to-be genericized tribute to his favorite hero, but wit xX or somesuch to either side of his name, like xXWolverineXx or .Superman.
He'll run circles around you, hop up and down in front of random team members, and occasionally drop a boombox and start dancing. And you're stuck because one of the members had to change the baby.
Eventually, someone on the team will say in team chat "I hope he goes away soon," and of course the newcomer will then say something like "Can I haz ur team?" or INVITE?
And you say "Sorry, we're full - just waiting for people to zone." and he'll go away. With your suggestion, I'll have to be honest with him.

The Scrappers' Guide to Dark Melee | Kheldian Binds and Strategies
Or "How to make finding a group as painless as possible".
We've all done it - sending tells to greyed out people in the find member list and hearing "sorry we're full", "sorry we're doing a tf", or "we're playing as a supergroup". It makes you a sad panda doesn't it? You know it does. Wouldn't it be nice if the find member list had a table of existing teams? With every member of the team listed? With the leader clearly marked? With space for the team to list the roles that need filling? With the ability to describe what they team is up to? Hell yes! But why stop there? Lets throw in an Apply button, which automatically alerts the team leader to your request, and provides a link to a profile for them to check your powers and read a description of your personality and play style. |
Added a filter to the /search menu to not show teamed people.
Added a star to team leaders in the /search.
I don't see a need to add the team's non-leaders to the list, other than to allow a pest to bother each on in turn after the leader says he isn't interested in hiring the $level $AT that is applying.
Similarly, there should be a bulletin board in City Hall where SG's can choose to list themselves. This could also have a handy Apply button, and contain information such as colour scheme, number of members, or a brief description. If there's a dress code or theme, perhaps an example costume could be uploaded for people to browse. A small section for notes would allow the leaders to say which costume pieces can be varied or which ones are mandatory. Sometimes your character concept might narrow your choices of group. Being able to sort by colours and theme, as well as name would be a huge boon. And maybe leaders could add tags to the ads so that people can search for keywords. IMO this would greatly streamline the search for a team or supergroup. Finding a good group can drastically improve your play experience. I think it would help to increase the popularity of the game, and make searching easier for existing players. |
Perhaps it should have SG's drop off of the advertising boards unless they renew occasionally (Hmm....a Prestige Sink?), thereby making sure that the ones advertising are at least partially active.
