Hey all, I have done quite a bit of searching on the forums trying to find some more info on avs, but haven't quite found what I wanted so I thought I would come here to the almighty scrapper forums for the knowledge I seek

1) how much of an effect does -res have on an av? Because on my 4 man team we were thinking of adding a friend to make a sonic/ sonic defender for the buffs, but more importanly the - res debuffs and I was just wondering how effective would that be?

2)about how much -regen does it tale to floor an avs regeneration?

3)how much more difficult are giant monsters than avs? Can they be done with a 4 or 5 man team?

4)any additional info that would assist in taking down avs would be greatly appreciated

Hmmm, I don't really have the numbers you want, but:

1) Minus resistance is a very effective tool.

2) Most AVs heal 94 hit points per second. No idea how much -regen it takes to floor them. I never had any -regen.

3) Giant monsters heal the equivalent of about 360 hit points per second. Some archetypes can solo them without temps or inspirations. Some scrappers can solo them by nuking them. Two DPS scrappers could duo them. I don't have a lot of giant monster experience, but they actually seem to have less damage output than AVs. Where they probably come out ahead is that I think they tend to have and use large radius AoEs. Keep the squishies at range.

4) You're worrying too much about it. I've never had major trouble with AVs on three man teams, and we gave no specific consideration to how to build for AVs, correct team composition, or anything like that. Only rarely had trouble duoing AVs. Soloing AVs, not so easy without some planning.

I started posting, deleted my post, saw Werner's reply... Pretty much what I was about to say, said better.

I'd add I believe you'd need about 650% -regen to floor an AV, seeing as 500% reduces their regen to a fourth of their base IIRC.

Resistance debuffs are resisted by the specific damage resistances of the target in question. To put it in a less confusing way, if you've got 20% -res and the target has 20% +res(s/l) and 30% +res(fire), it would end up with 4% +res(s/l), 16% +res(fire), and -20% +res(every other). The formula to calculate it is totalRes = (baseRes - ((1-baseRes)*resDebuff)); keep in mind that all of the res values should be in decimals (20% = .20).

For Culex's spreadsheet on the resistances of pretty much everything in game, download from http://www.culex.us/ig/coh/CHres.xls. It's probably one of the most comprehensive spreadsheets out there.

That depends on the AV. AVs resist most debuffs based on their level, as seen here. A level 50 AV would then require 667% -regen in order to have his/her regen floored. A level 20 AV, on the other hand, would only require 334% -regen. To calculate the needed -regen, the formula is 1/(1-regenResist).

GMs are significantly harder, if only because they regenerate more. They'll deal about as much damage as an AV but have significantly more hp but the same base regen percentage, meaning they recover more hp/sec. If your team is packing plenty of -regen, then you should be more than capable of taking out a GM with a small team (they resist debuffs as an AV of their level; which is based on the specific GM). Ill/Rad Controllers have demonstrated time and again their ability to solo GMs thanks to Phantom Army being unkillable and Lingering Radiation being such a huge -regen debuff. They're really just longer AV fights, more than tougher AV fights.
