Under your character or to the left is a circle with some text about "colors linked." It's defaulted to be on. Click in the circle to turn it off. Choose your skin color, then click the other color bar (above or below the skin color bar, I don't remember) to choose your costume colors. See if that works.

No luck there.
I pressed the button, and it greyed out the colors linked bar and said nothing selected. Then when I go to put in the new skin color, whatever I put, it still stays the same purple color it was before.
You wouldn't happen to have your face on "full mask" or something similar, would you?
Make sure your face is actually showing "Face #" and not the name of a mask or makeup.

Try hitting random a few times, or changing to one of the default costumes. Make sure you're choosing from the skin color palette (which is about 1/4 the size of the costume color palette).

And I am using the right palette for skin color.

When I hit random it changes everything, skin color, costume, everything.

Ok, so when you hit random it does change the skin color? What happens when you try to change the skin color after you hit random?
It stays the same color as it was when I hit random.
Is the "Skin Color" bar green (highlighted) or is the second bar green? The top bar needs to be green.
Skin color only has seven rows of colors, whereas the main color selection has sixteen rows of colors. Make sure you're viewing the SKIN colors and not the main colors.

So I am creating my first hero. The problem that is annoying me is that whenever I pick the "skin color", his skin, for some reason, is the colors linked. I just want my character to have a plain skin color. How do I do it and stop his skin from being purple? I put the color on the skin color tab as a normal color, but it still hasn't changed.
