Chat Tab deletion issue.

Last month or so, my Chat tabs have been at risk of being removed randomly.

I know this comes from using the "WASD" keys with my left hand and the mouse for directions, turning and looking around. in fights I tend to left click a chat tab and then move left "D" key. this deletes the tab. Normal in game tabs can be rebuilt easy. But once you do this on Chat channles, when you kill the tab it quits the channel (unless it is linked in another tab).

1) Can we get it set up that when a tab is deleted it doesnt quit the channel.
2) can we get a way to lock tabs - ones we know we use and dont want deleted.
3) Can we get a confermation on delete window.

I know temp fix is: Create a backup tab that holds everything.

Since there is no permanent fix, I would describe that as a wise precaution. Every channel I've joined is on at least two tabs.

I would also get everything arranged nicely then save the settings to a file. That way you can easily import them to another toon. Also, if you go into the menu/options and hit 'Save as Default' for your chat settings, it will automatically set them that way for any new toons.

I'm adding/dropping/tweaking my chat window a lot, so I have a keybind to save the current settings and another to load them (and these binds are on every toon).
/chatsavefile FULL_PATH_AND_FILENAME
/chatloadfile FULL_PATH_AND_FILENAME
You don't actually need to give the full path if you're okay with it being in your City of Heroes folder. I wanted to put it in a different directory with other text files that gets backed up daily.

I use the 1-4 extra chat windows to make backups. I don't leave them open, so there's no chance that they'll be deleted.

I started doing that after I accidentally quit my own global channel several times. The game doesn't actually lock the mouse pointer in place, it simply renders it invisible, so someone like me who uses the right-click function to jump will pop up random context menus, and hitting the wrong key at the wrong time... argh.

After having to ask for op status in my own global channel for the umpteenth time, I finally assigned the 1 chat window to The Lumiverse and the 2 window to a backup copy of the main tab I keep open. I wasn't using them for anything before. Now if my main chat tab is deleted, I don't accidentally quit my global channel and I have a copy of the tab which I can quickly drag into place.

most of the ones I go oh crap over are the private invite only ones. If I didnt use them all of the time I would not worry so much about it.

That is why most of the time I have backups. I was running a toon with out it sunday and Poof gone, and looking to see if any of the OP were on.

I would like to see some fix beside a back up, but also wanted this out there just incase it does help someone else as to understadn why and how to fix it.

This used to happen to me a lot. Then I got the bright idea to change the mouse look to the middle mouse button.

Now it looks like this in my keybind files:

Code:
MBUTTON "+mouse_look"
SHIFT+MBUTTON "+camrotate"
No problems since then.
