Soloing Energy/Energy

So, I built my fire energy/energy blaster last night, and got her up to 7 without AE or sewers, all solo play, on difficulty setting 1. So far she's fun and seems fairly easy to solo, but then, most lowbies are. I'm thinking I might enjoy using both melee and distance attacks.

Right now my basic attack chain is to use build up if it up, smack something with energy punch and follow up with power thrust, and if it is still alive shoot it with power blast. If I have a group I try to knock them all off their feet with energy torrent, then use the above attack chain on individuals. I also have all the vet attacks, and use them if I have any holes in my attack chain.

This might all change as I get my later powers, of course. Right now I'm looking to go with the pool powers of speed for hasten and Superspeed, fitness for stamina, and thinking of going with fighting for tough and weave and Medicene for Aid Self. I'm not married to the idea of last two, just thinging about it.

I have mid's, but not really looking to do any serious number crunching, just discovering how she plays as she picks up various powers as they become available. So, in the long run, how viable is energy/energy for solo play? I'm not looking to make any serious coin with her, just have fun tossing stuff around.

My energy/energy/force is built as a blapper and it's my main.

I have my AoEs slotted for Knockback and use them for mitigation (6 slotted Kinetic Crash. They do 75% of the damage that 6 slotted Posi blast does but it's cheaper, costs the same end, and recharges significantly faster). Every set bonus in Kinetic crash is useful to me for this toon's playstyle.

I have Kinetic Crash in Energy Torrent, Explosive Blast, and Power Thrust. I could have put it in Power Push but I found that I had more than enough KB in the powers that did damage and respec'd out of it.

I only run about 7% defense total and that was more from accident than intent. I rely on the KB in my powers and moving around constantly for survival. I solo on setting 5, make good use of Temp Invul, PFF, and FoN and only need to use the occasional break free for most content (including the RWZ challenge and wall farming in Cim).

Soloing AVs I need a tray full of purples but that's because most AV's are immune to even the amount of KB that I can dish out.

I can handle 8-12 mob spawns of even con to +2s with no problems and 6-10 +3s/+4s. 4 to 5, +4 bosses at once are pretty challenging.

Against 8 -12 mobs Aim + Build Up > Energy Torrent > Explosive Blast usually leaves 2-3 mobs on their feet. Power Thrust reduces that to 1 or 2 and a couple quick blaps take out what's left. By that time the mobs have regained their feet, started to close and have bunched back up a bit. Energy Torrent + Explosive Blast peels another 1 or 2 out of the herd and I can go again as above.

Against +4s after I have run that cycle 2-3 times I've got most every thing damaged pretty well and I can Aim + BU + Nuke to take out the rest of the spawn quickly (in the cases where I started with 12) a CaB and PFF keep me alive until the crash expires if I missed anything with the nuke.

Energy/Energy is very viable for solo play, all the way to 50.

As for pool choices. Medicine will serve you better than fighting pool. The thing that slows down my blasters a bit is taking damage in between fights. Aid self ensures there's really no downtime between 1 group to the next. It doesn't have to be well slotted and it doesn't really need anything other than just two heal IOs (I don't bother with interrupt since I don't use it during combat). You can slot it with an interrupt as a cheap in-combat heal, but I don't think it's that needed. Green inspirations work better in that situation anyhow.

Glad to hear it! Played her last night duoing with Mr. Tealeaf, and got her up to almost nine. Took Superspeed at 8 just to get the travel power out of the way. Still having loads of fun with her, and it's good to hear that others have fun with this class up to 50!

Definately thinking about taking the medicene pool first, when I can work it in, rather than fighting.

Haha! I love it! I remember looking at this months ago before I took a break from the game and it looked interesting. Sounds like a blast, at least solo. I think I'm going to have to try this out.
