Suggestion about Reputation

Hey there guys, the idea of this thread came to my head when i recieved negative rep. for asking a question about CO and CoX
(And the reason being i was trolling)
(No doubt it was the war of the two games that caused that person to lower my reputation.)

But, basically i was wondering. Can anyone just mark you down? This could lead to such things as lowering people's reputation because you dislike them, or you disagree with their views?

Maybe you have to have a certain post count, or certain reputation yourself to mark others down.
And possibly you can get warnings and such for inappropriate ratings.

Thank's for taking your time to read this!

Yes, just about anyone can mark you down.

People with low rep can't actually affect other people's rep as heavily as people with significant rep. And people with rep turned off can't impact other people's rep very heavily.

As far as getting neg rep over something like asking about Co and CoX, it's kinda a point in the forum rules that will direct you to the appropriate place to discuss such things. Just an FYI.

Some people will give you negative rep over the piddliest thing, even just to spite someone. It's generally unavoidable, and your suggestions won't really serve to put a stop to it. Hinder slightly, yes, but not enough. There's already restrictions in place, in the form of being forced to "Spread the love" before you rep a recently repped member for a second time in a row, but like that's doing anything genuinely useful.

You can, however, turn your rep meter off, so if it's becoming too much of an issue, just pop into your UserCP and disable it. Problem solved, basically.

Max: "Me too."

I tend not to use the rep meter much.

Just like the old forum stars I have little doubt it will vanish in time.

To me, your thread was a genuine question, hence the genuine answer.

I have awarded a few positives, to players such as Dark Respite, who do awesome things for the community, and thats about it.

Far as I'm concerned, reputation doesn't matter. I don't give people good or bad reputation because I'd rather let their actions speak for them. That's why I've turned mine off. If you dislike your negative reputation and believe the process is unfair, turn yours off, as well.
