Maybe if you posted your build we might be able to answer your questions. I havew a invul tank and love the feel of him at higher levels but admittly I face more smashing/lethal damage blue side than yuor are going to face red side where energy damage is everywhere.
Will be following this thread though because I LOVE brutes love and have a concept for a /invul one.
Invulnerability is a late bloomer. And it's only invulnerable (or almost) to Smashing/Lethal type of damage.
It can do moderately well against Fire/Cold/Energy/Negative, and will always be weak to Psi.
To get the most of invulnerability, you need all your S/L related secondary powers asap, invincibility well slotted, as well as Tough (Tough is very important to raise your S/L resists to 70% !), and also Tough Hide later. CJ/Weave, a steadfast unique and everything you can get to raise your defense is useful too.
Paired with SS the set will be endurance hungry, but you can slot endurance reduction (or even better a good frankenslotting in SS attacks, especially KO Blow and Foot Stomp).
^^^^ What Ethina Said. INV is a late bloomer indeed and really shines with IO bonuses late late game.
Okay, so I've been a player for just over three years now. I have played dominators, corruptors, stalkers, blasters and controllers. All squishies.
I've been working on my one and only brute, Emperor Mythos, who is SS/Inv and currently lvl 29.
I don't know if if it's just me, or if I'm still a relatively low level to know better, but...
I don't feel particularly invulnerable. Dull pain has a painfully long recharge and I seem to be popping greens like they're skittles.
Any advice? What powers should I have at 29, and how do I up my survivability?
