Issues With Trend Micro

Posted

I switched my virus/firewall protection to Trend Micro last September, and have never had an issue with it running with CoH. Within the past month or so, something has happened that makes the game nearly unplayable while running Trend Micro. I did a forum search and didn't find anything similar to my problem, so I'm hoping it's not just my machine.

When I go to load up CoH, I get a pop up from Trend Micro asking me if I want to grant permission for CoH to access the internet. Now, the program asked me this the first time I played the game after installing, and at that time I had hit "Don't ask me again about this program," and it never did until recently. Now it asks me every time I load up the game, and EVERY time I zone.

I always click "allow" and make sure the box to not bother me again is checked. But, I keep getting a second pop up that says I have the "max number of rules for a Personal Firewall profile" and that I need to delete some. How on Earth do you do that? I have spent hours digging into the program, looking through help files, and nothing. I have tried Google searches, and they don't help. Lately I have just been turing the program off all together when I play, but I'd rather not have to do that.

Help me Technical Forums. You're my only hope.

There is a program I believe that deals directly with your Personal Profile called Active Sync. Try googling this program to find where you add/edit/delete exceptions or "rules" to your Profile. In addition, it is possible that your Windows firewall is conflicting with TrendMicro. I would forward the COH Port IP in there, then do the same in Trend Micro. Is this a Free Trend version?

No, this is a subscription. I have the latest updates and all that jazz.

I'll try out your suggestions tonight when I get home. Thanks for the help!

I've seen this before with other anti-virus/firewall systems. Generally what you need to do is Remove the offending program from the allowed list and then re-add it.
