This is my current main character. I'm very happy with him and so far I managed to obtain the TF-Commander and Columnbreaker badges. The build itself was relatively cheap: ~250 Mio inf. My goals were simple : Softcapped Defenses, Maximum HP and moderate Recharge Boni. Fireball could be slotted with Positron's Blast and Taunt could be replaced with Grant Cover but that's all I may change in the future.

Hey steel, is that build able to tank many purple bosses (53+)??

Cause my SD/SS (lvl 40 atm) is really squishy -.-'
Im still missing fighting pool and im still using SO... but i totally suck compareted to invulnerability or stone tankers -.- (SO)
They can easily tank big groups of "unstoppable something" in Ae missions (just an example), i die if i try to tank 3 of them lol

I know fighting pool will help me but i dont think it will make that huge difference..
so squishy comparated to them, and they were using SO too, like me...

I become something good just when i use OwTs... but we know how long it needs to recharge...

It makes a world of difference. Right now, with just SOs, assuming nothing else but your Shield Defense abilities, you should be sitting at something around 33% Defense, which isn't bad... but it's not spectacular, either, especially when Defense is your primary means of not dying. That last jump from 33% to 45% will dramatically increase your survivability, and the extra damage absorption from Tough will help to blunt whatever does come through.

The good news is that it's very easy to get to the soft cap for a Shield Tanker. All you have to do is get Weave and Combat Jumping, grab a Steadfast Protection +Def (reasonably cheap), and have at least one other person in range of Phalanx Fighting, and you'll be at the soft cap.

@ Dawn

Vermain is right. Once you reach the defensive softcap and use tough, you're as tough as an Invuln Tanker. They may have better raw Numbers but there is no InGame-Difference worth mentioning.

But I must confess that the leveling process was awful until I reached the 40s (I got there by solely doing TFs which may contribute to that Impression). At 41 I was almost softcapped (43.5% towards melee/ranged/AoE) and suddenly I felt strong. At 47 I got the +rec IOs and the Tanker that was once slated for Deletion has become my favorite character (although my WP/Superstrength-Brute comes a close second).

With the careful use of green Insps I can survive everything. Soloing Missions full of Groups of Lvl 52 Bosses is relatively easy. With some Buffs and Controller/Defender Support Lvl 54 are a cakewalk too.

And yes, he can tank Reichsman too.
