My First Warshade...

Been over 4 years, never been tempted up till now.

Been having a read through the threads, and this is what I've come up with using SuckerPunch... which currently doesn't support either the Touch Of Nictus or Obliteration sets, which I'd be using happily

Suggestions/random flamage welcome...

I don't know how I didn't see this post so sorry for the late reply!

Anyway the first thing I would suggest is to download mids, because not only does that seem to have all the sets this is missing (I don't think it has all the pvp ones yet though) it is the one most people use, so easier to give advice on builds.

The second thing is how do you play/plan on playing your Warshade? Do you want to be human often, use the forms mainly, do you prefer dwarf or nova etc?

Once I know what the build is aiming at becoming I can have a better look.

Urrgh, Suckerpunches export is horrible. How did you slot Gravity Well with a URL

Few wee things. It's not really worth slotting the forms for too much End Mod. The Endurance they give back is fairly small anyway and slots are precious. However it is worth a slot if you can get a Chance for End PROC into a form. I stuck one into Lobster form as I figured that's the "batten down the hatches" form and it works great.

Gravity Well is your best human form attack, lots of damage and a hold. 5-6 slot it for sure and get it at 18 if possible. Essence Drain isn't that good really, the damage is meh and I always prefer just switching to Lobster form and using its drain instead if I'm in trouble (or feasting on delicious corpses with Stygian Circle). I did take the human form drain in the 40s as I'd run out of powers and figured it might be good in a blapper-esque mode with the Stun aura running too, but I don't think I've used it much.

I don't like the Fitness pool on a WS either since it won't work in forms, again corpses & Stygian Circle is nyum-nyums (my Warshade has an unhealthy liking for corpses). I'd also throw a wee few slots into Unchain Essence if you can (maybe take 1 or 2 from Quasar). Exploding corpses is almost as much fun as feeding off them (or ripping a blobby pet from them, or all 3 one after the other). You can afford not to fully slot Damage in Unchain Essence & Quasar as you can double-mire to boost it to decent levels anyway. I like having both fairly well slotted rather than just one of them. I tend to Frankenslot them both for Acc, Dam & Recharge rather than going for sets (2 acc/dam, 2 dam/recharge is good and can be cheap, especially with tickets).

I'd take Hasten & SS earlier instead of Fitness, you can then stealth with SS & Shadow Cloak much earlier and the recharge from Hasten is always good.

The human form stunning toggle aura (can't remember the name) is fairly nice, even for a triform, the stuns last a decent amount of time and it can stack with Grav Emination (which needs a few slots if you have them).

Overall I tend to Frankenslot my WS rather than bother with set bonuses, mostly because I'm poor and cheap and it seems to be the best way to get bang for your buck (especially with Ticket Drops). Princess D is much better at set bonuses than I am. The only ones I chase are +Recovery since they only take 2 IOs for the bonus usually and are easily obtainable by cheap and lazy me.

As an aside I really wish the Devs would let us export our live builds from the actual game into a Mids Datachunk or similiar.

I realised why it never could on my walk home from work. The game doesn't remember what levels you allocate slots, hence the way the Exemping system works.

Here's a reconstruction of my fairly cheap Frankenslotted IO build. Few dear ones in there but for the most part these are achievable pretty cheaply. Focused on getting the most slot-wise from Enhancements & some Recovery.

In the 40s I just picked up some human blapping style powers for the heck of it so Human form was a bit more viable offensely just in case I got bored of being a squid or lobster and fancied some blapping & controlling.

Here's the bind files I use for shapeshifting. There's 3 seperate ones, one for Human form (v on the keyboard), one for Nova : c (stick your Nova powers into Tray 4) and one for Dwarf : b (stick the Dwarf powers into Tray 5).

Just replace [path] with the path to the folder you save these on. Don't have the path too long though there's a 255 character limit on the line lenght in bind files. something just off the c: is good.

Note that you can't shapeshift while doing another animation, so if you don't pop into a form straight away press the same button again and you should then.

Thanks for the advice so far. At the moment I'm triforming and shifting between forms as necessary. I like both shifted forms - squid as an aerial gun platform, that lets me shred mobs on open maps or when partnered with a tank, and the lobster as a very effective tank with a big punch or two. Accurate Healing enhs seem to help a lot with those drains, btw.

Yes, snacking on corpses is fun, so I may well get explodeys and will definitely get fluffies to follow me about.

I'm keeping Stamina, partly because of enemy groups that self-destruct (ghosts, demons and others) and won't let me snack on 'em, and partly because some of the lesser powers are, well, meh, mostly from sheer bloody mindedness. But only giving it two slots rather than 3.

One Stealth enhancement in Shadow Step neatly replaced the invis toggle and frankly does a better job of it...

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?

Wasn't there a weird bug / issue with TP & Stealth that the stealth would drop for a sec when you triggered it? Did they fix it? If so that's excellent since the TP Stealth IO is dirty cheap.

And yes, Ghosties and Robots are a nightmare for me. I hates them so much. My main issue is that I spend so little time in Human form that Stamina just doesn't seem worth it to me. Plus I like shinies too much, even if they are fairly meh shinies. I always resent having to get Stamina, on any character (my Grav/TA and my Brute skipped it, mostly out of bloody-mindedness)

I think I'm slightly addicted to having so many party tricks on my WS. Nice for someone with Altisis like me though. It's like having 3 or 4 alts all wrapped up together.

Caution: A lot of text

I can't say I have ever noticed a stealth + tp bug, and I have had the stealth IO in TP for a long time now, it works really well.

I must also say that I am against taking stamina unless you are planning to stay in human form quite a lot, because you really need to give it time to get the benefit out of it, and although some of the early warshade powers are a bit meh if you are tri-form you can always pick up the power pools. Personally I find the medicine pool (Stimulant, Aid Self and Ressucitate [I can never spell that word]) more useful than fitness (At least the rez gets a lot of use), and they don't need any slots at all, and slots are precious. But I guess each to their own regarding stamina, a lot of the time things just make you feel better even if they aren't technically great. And when fighting ghosts I find I really love voids because they do leave corpses!

I am also not a big fan of Unchain Essence, I found that since I was fighting mostly in the forms I never got to use it, and to make it worthwhile it needed lots of slots. But having said that it is a cool power that I would like room for and if you aren't min/maxing there should be room.

The way I work my builds is to work out what proportion of time I spend in which form, and what I use that form for, then allocate powers and slots accordingly. For example I use human form to buff up and when solo, and Nova/Dwarf pretty evenly depending if I feel blastery or scrappery that day/mission/mob. So I allocated slots to dwarf and nova pretty evenly, slotted the human buff powers and then picked the remaining powers with what I had left after the dust settled. Doing it that way makes sure that the powers you use the most work really well, but requires the sacrifice of certain other powers.

Example: My Nova has the single target blasts 5 slotted and the AoE's 6 slotted. My dwarf has 3 slots in the first attack, 5 in the other attack and the heal and 6 in mire, so they are about even when you take into account dwarf's extra powers. I worked this out first because these forms were the most important to me and I wanted them to be very good when I did use them. Then I picked the important human powers, Eclipse/Mire/Extract Essence/Stygian Circle etc and gave them enough slots to be really good at what they did. Then I went to the powers that are good but not 'essential' and allocated my remaining slots to those. After doing that I have quite a few power picks left, but no slots - hence the medicine pool, super speed, super jump, and some of the stealth pool.

It was quite hard to sacrifice some of the good powers while making the build, but is well worth it because now every single power I have will perform its job very well, rather than risking having too many powers each slightly under-performing. I think it is the last trap a lot of people fall into and as a result end up not liking their Warshades. I have yet to find a build that can fight well in all three forms without sacrificing overall effeciveness because you end up with 8 half slotted blasts instead of 4 well slotted ones.

I would say get mids and have a go through building like that, every time you place a power or a slot think 'how much use am I getting out of this?' and remember that 2 level 50 IO's give an 80% ish bonus, so the third IO is only worth 15%, but in another power will give the full 40%.

Once you have done that I can have another look and see if there are any slots misplaced, I like to try and encourage people into finding the build themselves and give pointers rather than builds.

If you look at one of the other threads near the top of this forum section I did a build for someone that is probably very similar to what you want that may be of help. I also gave him roughly the same advice as I am giving you.

Oh and if you are going for IO sets remember that recharge is king. Your key defensive power is Eclipse and the faster that recharges the better. In my build I took certain powers purely to allow for greater recharge building I think it is that important. If you aren't going to spend the kind of money needed for sets then frankenslotting is another very good way of building a Warshade, at high levels an acc/dam/end gives better overall numbers than an acc/dam, which in turn gives better numbers than just an acc.

On a side note I really wish I could have done my English language exam on building a Warshade, I seem to be able to write all day about it!

Wasn't there a weird bug / issue with TP & Stealth that the stealth would drop for a sec when you triggered it? Did they fix it? If so that's excellent since the TP Stealth IO is dirty cheap.

Haven't noticed it if it does, and neither have the mobs.

Is it time for the dance of joy yet?
