Do the following:
In 'Mids' go to the 'Window' tab and click 'Recipe Viewer' *
Unclick '-All Powers-'.
Then click the specific power you'd like to view, that has the recipe you would like.
Then click the corresponding recipe in the list to the right of the 'Power' list.
Undernearth both boxes, you should have the 'Invention Salvage' you require.
[* (or simple push hot-key Control-R) ]

Opening the 'Recipe Viewer' tab actually creates a new window, rather than inside the program. And it can exist on top of your 'City of..' window, meaning you can collabarate between the two. so to answer, yes. It's a pretty basic window so it won't take up much CPU or whatever, and you don't have to 'Alt-Tab' once your in-game and have the 'Recipe Window' open.
However I've just gotten used to simply having 'Mids' open, looking for the corresponding recipe; purchasing it; then using what the recipe requires via in-game. Saves the hassle.

Thanks for the replies, but I know about the Mids recipe viewer. My problem is that I'm not interested (in this case) in recipes planned into a build, but just a random list of recipes that I own. I can't see any way in Mids to get a shopping list for anything other than a planned build.
a pop up shopping list that you can fill in yourself (or copy/paste from outside) would be nice.
items on the list are colour coded:
Green if on your person
Yellow if in the vault
Orange if on the auction house
perhaps blue if they are stored in SG storage.
red if you dont have it
so, you have a list of 4xancient bone, 2xboresight, 3xsteel it appears like:

and the entries get colour coded accordign to which category they satisfy first from top to bottom.
woudl be nice.. not sure if its do-able though.

I know Mids will create a salvage "shopping list" based on a build, but I could really do with something that would give me such a list just based on a list of recipes.
I have a whole load of mixed recipes I want to craft, and I really don't want to have to sit and work out how many pieces of each type of salvage I need to do it. Ideally, I'd like some sort of application where I can just select which recipes I have (and number of each), and have it return me a list of salvage.
Considering making one myself, but don't want to go to the trouble if it already exists.
