Hello all.

Tried searching for a simillar issue but dunno if im just poor at searching or if nobody else has ever had it.

Each and every time I reboot, CoX gets uninstalled for when im starting up the comp.

The issue at hand has to have something to do with that I not long ago got told to "try the US servers, more ppl there" but even with more ppl I tested 2min on the trial and now as punishment I have to wait a sweet 60+min to install and play the EU version again each and every time I reboot.

Even if I do wanna play it's not a solution to keep the comp on 24/7 or just installing it every time.

Anybody had simillar issues or know what could be causing it?

I had/have a similar issue. I reinstalled the game following a windows reinstall and if I access the game through my start menu it runs fine, but if I run through the desktop shortcut it tries to re0install.

Dunno why it does it, but I just ignore and use the start menu lol

This happened to me recently after I installed test server. Turned out the normal, non-test shortcut on my desktop had somehow turned into a shortcut for the US version (no idea why, never played it). I fixed the short cut to point to the correct EU .exe, and now all is well.

You've fallen into the old problem if the desktop shortcut not being created properly.

All you need to do is remake your shortcut, and this will work fine for the US version as well (I do this too).

Look inside your \City of Heroes game folder, you will find a few EXE's. You need make a shortcut on your desktop to Cohupdater.EU.exe for the EU version, and Cohupdater.exe for the US version.

Note: When running for the US version it might ask you to reinstall the game. I've had problems with this before and solved it thusly.

1. Allow it to start the download, to a DIFFERENT folder to your EU installation. After a few seconds, stop it and DELETE the installation folder it just made. This will have created the needed registry keys to run the US version.
2. Make sure the shortcut is still pointing to the original location.
3. Start REGEDIT to edit the registry, and go to the following registry key.

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Crypric\Coh\

4. Find the key value Installation Directory and set it to your current one (you can copy it from the EUCoh registry folder if you wish).
5. Restart the game from the original shortcut. All should now work fine for EU and US versions. You should only have a problem when the US updates before the EU, which is quite rare.
