Wrong username and password
Try checking you don't have caps lock on. Also are you certain you are running the EU version of the client - if you downloaded it from the website it will possibly be pointing at the US servers

I've downloaded the client that is linked in my profile. When I click City of Heroes in my account management there's a link 'Download Client'
I would assume that's the right one...?
To check, go into C:\Program Files\City of Heroes and look for for a file called "CohUpdater.EU".
If it's not there look for one just called "CohUpdater" and rename it to add ".EU" on the end. Then just create a shortcut to it and run that.

And isn't it about time they sorted out that problem? Its been going on for what seems to be forever. there are regularly threads from new players with this problem. if it happened to me I probably wouldn't get any further. I wonder how many people have given up before getting to the point of changing the updater to the correct target?
I've made a trail account to CoH today but when I try to log in to the game it keeps telling me that either my username or password is wrong. I'm 100% sure I'm doing it right though, because I can log in to http://eu.plaync.com/eu/ without any problems.
I allready checked my account details and changed the password to make sure, but it didn't matter.
