Memory use at 700,000k

I recently noticed that i was getting tremendous lag, when i open up the task manager and look in the memory column it says 700,000k, frequently going up to 800 and 900.

I've looked over the other threads and tried their solutions but no luck so far. I've tried running it in Safe mode which offers some improvement by bringing it down to 600,000k. Which is still no good. Also tried reinstalling, but that was a good fun waste of my time.

Any ideas?

Edit: By the login screen the memory use is at 500,000k, so i'm thinking it's not a graphical problem.

How much RAM do you actually have in the first place?

2gb of RAM

I wouldn't quote me on this, but that seems about normal to me.

I play on two different PC's. One with 512 ( ) and one with 1gb.

On the 512 one, CoX generally uses around 300,000 or so. And on the 1gb it uses about 500,000 - 600,000.

Do you have any other things running in the background? Espcially Antivirus/firewall.

Actually, come to think of it, are you sure it's not network lag?

Next time it happens, enter '/netgraph 1' into the chatbox and see if there are any lag spikes.

Well, maybe i'm just overeacting or something, but now whenever i try to play my internet is disconnected at the loading screen, it get's just over half way and no further... That's not good.

That sounds more like a problem with your connection.

Do you have a Firewall running? If so, turn it off and see if it works then.

Also, if you're connectiing through a router, make sure you forward all the correct ports for CoX, otherwise you'll have a nightmare trying to play. (Easy step-by-step instructions here.)

With all graphics turned on and playing for a couple of hours, i've seen CoH use up over 1gb of ram.

Using 700-900Mb of RAM on a system with 2Gb is perfectly normal for CoX (Well, most games these days really) and would be extremely unlikely to have any negative effects on other aspects of your system unless you're trying to do something silly like run CoX at the same time as editing huge images in Photoshop (And even then all it'll do is slow everything down as Windows starts paging to disk).
