Midnight in Mercy
Very nice Keep it up
Midnight in Mercy Redemption Part 1
Why do I live my life this way, it's a question a lot of people ask me, usually when they' have Smussato or Con Acuto's point at their chin waiting for me to kill them. I suppose the best explanation isn't the details of what happened before I started, or what made me pick up Smussato and Con Acuto and use them to become a bounty hunter in the Rogue Isles. Personally, I think it's this one.
It began on a slow night, the only job I'd got was to bring a Dyne merchant into the governor of Port Oakes hands, I had the idiot at the point of my blades when my phone rang almost shocking the poor fool into feeding my blades himself. I lowered Con Acuto, made it clear that if he tried to escape then I'd kill him there and then and answered my phone to a voice from the past.
Hello Rebecca, said the voice on the other end of the phone, Or should I say Midnight-Strike?
How did you get this number? I replied a little harshly already making plans on getting rid of the phone and taking a new identity, a little extreme you may think, but the voice on the other end belonged to one of Longbow's top agents, as my job often required me to kill I didn't want Longbow able to track me at all.
That doesn't matter, replied the voice, What does matter is that I need a deniable agent for a job.
How much? I asked automatically, my life was worth a lot of money on the Rogue Isles. If a group hadn't hired me then they wanted to kill me.
Always the same Rebecca, replied the voice on the other end of the phone, Straight to the point, allow me to say that if you succeed you will be reimbursed for your lost earnings. I simply require you to meet me at the docks in ten minutes, I have a sub waiting, you will be briefed onboard.
I looked at the wretch at the end of Smussato and smiled, the game with this one was over already, the money was only a bonus, I'll be there, I replied.
Very well Midnight-Strike, replied the voice calmly, See you in ten minutes,
I was five minutes away from the docks, I felt no regrets as Smussato sliced his throat and I called in the kill.
Right, I've used my time from the game to nearly finish this so I'm reviving this thread.
Time for redemption part 2
Midnight in Mercy Redemption Part 2
A message from Longbow for a deniable agent was rare, even more so for a registered villain, I'd served time in the Zig like most Rogue Isle villains. But I'd served my time and not left with an Arachnos troop like most villains. I once watched a fight break out between three inmates for the last place on the flyer. I wasn't stupid, I was only a bounty hunter after all, I brought the one who won his place on the flyer back to Longbow after I was released. He cheated in the fight, I hate cheaters above all things.
The sub was waiting like he had said, I boarded quickly. Once onboard I was 'escorted' to the Commander's 'Office', actually a small room towards the Forward of the sub just big enough for a filing cabinet, two chairs and a desk. The Commander motioned for me to sit down and I did checking behind me for anything more deadly than the Longbow recruits had outside the door. As I mentioned earlier, a lot of people wanted me dead, and a lot can happen in the middle of the ocean with no escape, I'm sure any Longbow agent could find an excuse to kill me and ditch the body in the ocean, well, that's what I thought then anyway.
The subs Commanding Officer wasn't the one who'd rang me earlier, not unless he'd been turned female by some experiment in the last ten minutes anyway, she had red hair tied back in a ponytail and a Longbow Standard Issue Assault Rifle was leaning at arms length from her. Again I regretted not insisting on keeping my swords instead of handing them in to the Longbow Agents inside the door in a show of good faith.
The Commander had a sheet of paper on the desk with a Arachnos coded message on it. Even upside down I could read it was an execution order. I couldn't see who it was for but that it was sent to all the Rogue Isles bounty hunters. But the last execution order I had from Arachnos was three weeks ago. And this was dated today. She noticed me staring at the report and shuffled it under the papers to avoid me seeing the name printed.
You know anything about the mission? she asked calmly, It was a rhetorical question I could see it in her eyes, the phone call had been monitored and every word recorded, she wanted to distract me from the order.
If there's an Arachnos order waiting for me at home you can forget it, I replied simply, they wouldn't let me go, but I knew that it would make it more likely for them to tell me what it was about.
You won't get this one, she replied, It was deemed to personal, in fact, it's why your here.
Too get to the target first? I asked, I was no fool, if Longbow showed interest in an Arachnos target, they wanted it saved.
Of course, she replied.
Where's my drop point? I asked.
Don't you want to know who the target is? asked the commander confused.
Why bother? I replied truthfully, For a two-hundred million target, I just follow the explosions. Beside, as you said, the target is personal, and the only hero I know personally is my brother.
This is a short story about my new DB/WP Brute Midnight-Strike. Enjoy.
(May grow later without warning).
Rebecca sat outside the small café in Mercy Island, business in the café was slow and judging by the coffee wouldn't be picking up any time soon. The paper though was a different story, lots of big name villains had been active recently although the Rikti War had pushed them from the front page it hadn't stopped them killing each other to rise to the top. She stirred the thick sludge the waitress had called coffee and smiled at the idiots blasting down bank walls and fighting to get into the news.
An article caught her eye, barely a footnote mentioning a scientist researching time travel in a lab on the Rogue Isles. She circled it along with an coded advertisement placed by Mickey the Ear about an Arachnos bounty. She finally took a sip of the so called coffee before going to see the owner of the café about how she liked her coffee.
A few hours later decked out in her battle armour she waited on the rooftops as Midnight-Strike for the sun to set before diving into the streets with the twin blades Smussato and Con acuto strapped to her back, she ran though the streets until she came across the warehouse where Mickey had said the Hellions were holding the scientist involved in the time travel experiments. She knew that the bounty that Lord Recluse had placed on this guys head meant that there would be an army between her and the target. But that was the way she liked it.
