As for a KB protection, just go for the IOs from the Karma or Steadfast Protection sets (the latest being the cheapest, though I don't remember at the moment if rad/rad has any power in which to slot it since I haven't worked out mine's build with IOs yet). 1 KB protection IO will be more than enough for PvE.

Currently at lvl 21, and loving every minute of it. I currently have fly and my character is aimed at a team build/debuff and buff bot.
I wanted something different than sj (as i normally get that) but I do not have any status protection or kb protection. Is it needed for a team only build at all, do I need sj or go for a kb invention or leave without kb and status protection?
