Rad / Rad defender
For a defender you really want some sort of Knockback protection, so I'd recommend either Hover for in missions and fly or Combat jumping and Acrobatics with SJ so you can hopefully stay on your feet to keep up with the defending.

Looking good so far. There's nothing wrong with irradiate at all, IMO the best AoE power you have available.
As for travel power, I'd go superjump so you can get acrobatics. Hover sort of protects from knockback too but unless you have a kinetics SBing you all the time it's too slow.

I just made my first character on Defiant and I'm playing a Rad / Rad defender. She's only level 9 at this time and this is what I'm currently using:
Radiant Aura

* Defense DeBuff
* Defense DeBuff
Accelerate Metabolism
* Recharge

Enervating Field

Irradiate

I'm currently not sure if it was the right choice to take Irradiate as my level 8 power, maybe Mutation (resurrection) was better?
I can take it at 10 of course, and what travel power would be ok for a defender?
