Ok so my life was normal. Ordinary...
If that’s how you would put it. I was an average girl, average height and weight. Average friends. Average school. You get the drift of things.
Although there was this one thing that completely changed my life, I don’t really know if it was for the better or for the worse.

The alarm buzzed in my ear, I curled a fist at an arthritic speed and slammed it on the buzzer. The quilt slipped back over my head and I groaned, at that time in the morning the same thought always passed through my head “Damn will I actually get up?” I rolled back over and faced the red wall, then onto my back to face my ceiling. My mum peered through the open door and smiled “Come on then sleepy get up, School this morning” she backed up and walked slowly down the stairs. I leaned up and grabbed my clock with both hands, like a little child. “Six Fifteen!” My head sunk back into the pillow “No get up, MOTOVATION!”

My name is Megan. I’d lived in Gateshead all of my life and for 3 years, since I started secondary school, this had been my routine, get up, lie down and then get up fifteen minutes later. My family was just the way you’d expect a normal family to be. Every morning I’d look in the same wardrobe and see that Supergirl costume from a charity day at my school, my thoughts swirled at the sight of it.

By Six thirty my bag was lying full on the floor and I had slowly dragged on most of my school uniform, I slid slowly down the stairs, yawning and dragging a purple school sweater over my head as I did. Who was the idiot who decided to make the school colour purple?! Well never mind that.
Like every other morning I followed the same old routine, Breakfast, TV, Jacket and shoes, out for the bus. I hated walking to the bus stop, it wasn’t very far from our house but damn was that hill steep, and it took me at least 2 minutes to catch my breath again.

Again same thing, walked along the same path to school, Evanescence blasting in my ears, Charvas walking past me would scowl. But that didn’t really bother me, I reveled in the small things, watched the birds fly by and the sun rising above the horizon line. This time I didn’t really see much of that, since a massive ball shot from the sky and into the field across from me, frightened people walking their dogs ran from the crash site.

Curiosity killed the cat. I hate that phrase. What’s the first thing you do when you see some sort of object crash into a field? Of course you go and look at it. I jogged over the field and clambered up the hill at its side. There were no flames surprisingly just a hole in the ground and in it a small piece of rock. No-one was around. I slid down the side of the crater and look at the rock from a short distance, its green glow enticing me to touch it. I slowly maneuvered my right arm out and made a grab for the rock; I felt a surge in my veins, my blood, and an unimaginable sensation.

I gripped the rock in my hand, its green glow was still strong so I placed it in my bag and slung it over my shoulder. As I walked away from the scene media vans slowly arrived bit by bit to see what had happened. I surveyed from a distance. Since it was eight fifteen I made my way to school, thinking as I walked along “Wasn’t my bag heavier this morning?” I shunned it and entered the dinner hall where some of my friends met.

Jason had reclaimed his so called “throne” in the dinner hall, a seat in the corner, apparently it kept him calm, only last week we had an argument since I sat there and stressed him out. He peered over, a bottle of Pepsi pressed against his lips and murmured, as Pepsi dribbled out his mouth, “Nice hair, didn’t realize you got blonde highlights”. I looked at him in utmost disgust and asked for a mirror, Kayleigh was on hand to give me one, she passed it over.
I click it open and as Jason had said, I did in fact have blonde highlights. I passed Kayleigh her mirror back and sighed “Must be the sun.”

I was in quite a good mood that day, since it was Friday and we had PE. Anna was doing her usual blind, dumb and deaf bit and Chelsea was prodding me in the side of the head with a ruler, it was obviously Maths. Today was the last day of doing our coursework, now I was always a fast typer, maybes a little slower on the laptop, but nevertheless fast. Chelsea’s prodding ceased for a second or two whilst I started typing on the laptop; she was looking at me in disbelief. “What? Is it the hair, because I can explain.” Her jaw was on the table at this point in time; I waved my hand back and forward just as she uttered a few words, “Yuh-yuh-you...Ju-just start typing again”. I shuck my head and groaned, and began typing once more. Even I was astounded, I laughed and looked at Chelsea who was still frozen to the stop, I paused and muttered “Are you sure your not just imagining things? I mean my hands are moving at a normal speed to me”.

The incident in Maths was forgotten by forth lesson but another was about to happen. It was cricket, the boys were separated from us, and except Ross he preferred to be with us. All of us were useless at hitting the ball, the lads howled like monkeys from the next court along. Last lesson it had been mine and Laura’s turn to bat, but we found ourselves going back in to get changed so today was our turn first. I took post first; Anna bowled a quick underarm ball at me. I lifted the bat and smashed it into the ball, my usual shots were pitiful, and they would wriggle across the floor in an awkward manner.
The sound of fence shattering echoed through our court, everyone on my right side had ducked; the ball had shot off at an incredibly quick pace and right through the fence. Everyone laughed unsurely and said there was already a hole in the fence and that I was lucky to get it through there.

I’d managed to get myself excused from last lesson, said I needed the toilet badly even though I obviously didn’t. I’d managed to slip that stone from that morning into my pocket and was now sitting in the toilets throwing this stone up and down, examining it. The green glow seemed to be fading. I’d spent 2 minutes looking at it and was starting to walk back to English. I jogged down the stairs to north block and dropped the rock; I dove at the floor as the brown crust surrounding it smashed into several gritty pieces and what was left of it was a bright green crystal. I picked it up in my right hand, this time it felt a little like burning, so again I placed it in my jacket pocket and returned to my English class.

I woke up with a start that morning; I was burning yet in a cold sweat. And there in my right hand was the crystal; I threw it across the room and shuddered, taking a quick glance at the clock. It was 9:30 in the morning and thankfully it was Saturday. As with every Saturday I would drag myself out of bed very slowly and stumble down the stairs.

I slumped over the banister on the stairs and yawned, dropping the pound coin in my hand down a few stairs. “Damn coin…” I let out another yawn and jumped down a few stairs, and leaned down to pick the coin up. That’s when I tumbled forward….”I don’t feel hurt...” I peeked out of one eye and look up, realizing that I was near the floor, but not on it. I didn’t even fall; there I was hovering above the floor suspended in mid air. “JESUS CHRIST! This isn’t right, why on earth is this happening.” I spun myself over and hovered for a little more “I wonder...”

Although I was still in my Pajamas I flung the door open, both mum and dad were out with my brother, so this was a perfect time to try it out. I stepped out the door and looked into the clear blue sky overhead, checked to see if anyone was around and closed my eyes. “Do it just how Superman does it, just think about it. Wait wait, more like Neo”. The whole street shuck as silence was struck by a sonic boom. The floor rippled below and there I was, hovering above buildings, what you’d always dreamed of saying as a kid…”I can fly!” The feeling was overwhelming that’s all I can really say, there were so many thoughts buzzing around in my head as I sped over the rooftops of Newcastle.

Sneaking back into my house, I sat on the sofa throwing the green crystal up and down, just thinking. “What if, just what if” I glanced over at the pencil lying next to me from some sketches I did yesterday night, I picked it up with my right hand and gripped it tightly. “If this doesn’t work then I’m going to be in serious trouble, not the mention pain”.
I raised my right hand, slammed the pencil into my left arm and closed my eyes tight. “No pain, what a relief. Did I miss, couldn’t have I felt it.” No marks on my arm at all, not even a scratch. It was then I stood up to look at my arm in the mirror to get a better view. I remember looking in the mirror the other day before going to school and boy was it a shock looking in the mirror, my hair was completely blonde (mum blamed the sun) and I was at least 5 foot 11. The most startling thing was my bodies build, before I found that stone I was an average body type, but now, damn was it a shock to my system, I was more athletically built up, I have the feeling my friends would be shocked as well. I looked at the green crystal sitting on the sofa again and pondered. This had to be what I thought it was, had I really stumbled across something that could do such things.

Since it was Saturday me and my friends did one of our usual ventures into town to see people with didn’t go to our school. I don’t know why but I’d packed my Supergirl costume into my bag, I laughed to myself when I did thinking what an idiot was, I wasn’t going to use it, boy was I wrong.
We were on our way to Leazes Park when sirens whirred and sped past us, from what I heard and could see there was a fire in an apartment block in the centre of Newcastle. I couldn’t help it, I could hear the thoughts of everyone outside, I just had the urge to act. And so I did. As soon as my friends turned their heads I jogged off down a nearby alleyway, and pulled the costume out of the bag. “For my sake lets hope I can do this” and in a flash the costume was on and I was speeding like a bullet across the skyline. People below looked up and pointed as I flew over to the nearby apartment building and landed in front of confused fire crews.

“Who, Who are you?” one of the muttered to me. I laughed and turned around, most of them gasped at the sight of the symbol on my chest and one even asked if God had sent me. “There is one person trapped in the building and we can’t get her out, damn if you’re the real deal you can help us out here. Please” the rest of the fire crew nodded along as he spoke. I looked at the all and my mind buzzed as I thought, “What if. What if I’ve just been dreaming this us, I could get killed in there. But it’s worth a shot” I nodded to all of the fire crew and muttered a confident “I’ll get her out of there”.

I was in there for 30 minutes, everyone outside assumed the worst had happened and the fire crews were spraying the last of the water at a dampened fire, and then the whole building caved in. Most of them took their helmets off and held them on their chests, but weren’t they all in surprise when a block of concrete flung up into the air and there I was, unmarked, carrying a woman in my arms. The crowd cheered, I can’t tell you how great it felt. “Thank you everyone” I passed the woman to the ambulance crew “Make sure this woman gets safely to the hospital. I shall see you again sometime.”
And with that I sped off into the sky my cape blowing behind me. The calls echoed out through the streets and one fireman, who still had his helmet pressed against his chest, muttered “God speed Supergirl, God speed.”

Really enjoying this, Catz

(I can't help wondering what DC's reaction to a real superhero using one of their trademarks would be.. would they sue? Would they try to sponsor? )

I can see a huge lawsuit from DC, but only if "Megan" took it on officially. Just some blokes off the street nicknaming her Supergirl wouldn't count...

But still, it's a stonkin' story me ol' chinah!

ah but it's not just some bloke - she's wearing the costume, and if someone with a camera were there then "Supergirl is Real" would be worldwide news; would Megan ever be able to shake off the Supergirl name?

...all by-the-by and just an idle thought, please carry on Catz.

Don't worry i DID think of that myself. But in this case im not going to worry about copyrighting etc since its only a fan-fic story

Anyway don't "Megan" In brackets, some of it is based on true events at my school, and yes Megan is me.

Heehee! Yes, I knew that Megan is your real name. Too much time hanging around the dA forums... I was merely trying, well, I don't know what I was trying to do.

Newcastle is brill!

The sun was rising slowly in the sky and it was about 8 in the morning, I’d usually be getting off at my bus stop by then, but this morning marked a change basically. Instead of paying for a bus fair I’d told my brother that I was getting the metro along. That was an obvious lie, well not if you call the metro flying to school. I’d edited my costume a little since last I was out saving the city, now it was white, with black boots, cape, domino mask and L on the chest, I can remember yesterday night quite clearly I’d changed the costume by then and most of the newspapers had already posted headlines about Supergirl and how Marvel would deal with some Vigilante taking on their copyrighted name, that made me decide to take on my own name and tonight was the night to announce it.
The Mayor of Newcastle had asked me to do a special conference with the public, basically to reinforce hopes of safer streets and to show people that I was the real thing. I don’t even think the mayor believed himself to be honest. I sat on the roof of Newcastle Civic Centre and placed the domino mask over my face, “This is going to be one hell of a night. Somehow I can feel something is going to go wrong”. The crowds had already gathered below, problem is I have terrible stage fright but there was something compelling me to go on. The mayor stood doing as every politician does, speaks for England, as he finished I shot down and arrived just at the pronunciation of my name, “Introducing, Not Supergirl, But Liberty Girl” I stepped out into the spotlights which shone down on the stage, I looked around there they were thousands of faces staring up at me, all of the showed a ton of emotions it was unbelievable, my mind was buzzing with thoughts. As far as I was aware, and the Newspapers, the night was pretty successful, the headlines were pretty good, “Is it a bird, is it a plane? No it’s Liberty Girl!” Was the most popular of the titles. But anyway I sidetracked. Flying to school, what would you give to experience something like that? As always my presence was alerted by a sonic boom in the sky but people basically ignored it as I reached school. Before I entered the main hall I checked the my costume was inside my bag, which it was, before I started to help set up the Summer Ball my school had been planning for our Pen-Schools. Most of the schools were in over-seas countries, like France, so none of those schools had time to make it, but one did, an Irish school if I’m correct it was a boy’s only school.

“Megan can you pass that silly string please?” Anna shouted over to me from the other side of the hall, I passed the silly string over to her and grumbled “I wonder what these Irish guys are like” I paused as she laughed, and then continued “Actually have you got your costume sorted yet Batgirl?” I tittered so she grunted and shoved me back “Oh and you’re going to look good as what was it? Ghost Widow?” I wandered over to the main doors and picked my bag up “What’s wrong with that? Anyway I’m off to go make the banners down Art…I’ll be back here tonight at like 5” She gave a little wave and I wandered off down to art, oddly the beeper the mayor gave me didn’t ring once during the whole day.

The music boomed from the main hall and people from my school and the Irish school gathered up, talking to the people they made contact with. I wandered over to the stage where the rest of my friends were standing, “Ready to perform then?” For one evening only my friends and I had formed a band since we were raising money in a battle of the bands competition. We all clambered onto the stage, by now I was wearing my Ghost Widow costume and looked nothing like myself. I paused by the mike as the others got the equipment ready and looked out across the crowd, there was one person a noticed and he was an Irish lad, but to my surprise was wearing a Lord Recluse costume which was awfully awkward because neither of us would know who one another was, my makeup was covering my face and his helmet was covering his.

I turned to my friends behind me and muttered “Ok, Everything Burns”. The acoustics began playing and this being my first time on stage I took a deep breath and as I began to sing everything drowned out, until that moment when the male vocals were supposed to begin…There he was right next to me, that guy in the Recluse costume had jumped onto the stage and was singing the male part, beneath all that white face makeup I had gone bright red. And that’s when it started beeping against my side, vibrating uncontrollably; I pulled it from my belt and looked at the screen, “Large Object Incoming…” Sneaking back stage, I pulled my costume from my bag and pulled it on. The roof caved in and a massive stone looking creature’s voice bellowed across the hall “Liberty Girl. Where is girl!?” I dived out from around the corner and shouted “You want me you big lug come and get me!” He tore a chunk from the floor and threw it towards me, the rubble was knife sharp and I wasn’t sure I could deflect something so big…and it was coming at me at some speed.

Posted

There was no getting away from it, I closed my eyes and raised my arms in defense and felt…nothing. There he was in front of me, a white trench coat, blue and white pants, long brown hair and a pair of blast goggles to top it off. The stone beast was busy floating in mid air in some kind of gravitational field. “Hurry…Up....I can’t hold him much longer” I nodded quickly and jumped at the monster, grabbing its back and tugging it through the hole in the roof from which it came. “Girl. Girl let go now!” The monster in my hands wriggled about, the brute had to be some weight but he basically felt like a feather to me. The guy that assisted below appeared from nowhere basically hovering there as I lifted the monster further into the sky “Need a little help, tall and blonde” I looked up at him and grunted “Yes. But you need a better pick up technique”. He threw both arms out and the monster hovered in a mini vortex of colours “Boy. Boy assist girl? Boy dies to!” I looked over at this guy hovering by me; I hoped he didn’t realize I had gone bright red I was surprised that there was someone other than me that had powers, then it rung in my ear, like a radio tuner “Another strange crater found in Dublin”. I zoned out for a second or two to listen to the bulletin and as I tuned back into reality the monster was flying towards me, I did a quick zoom up and as it passed under me, dug my feet into its back. The big lug tumbled down through metres upon metres of sky and with a massive quake hit the ground like a pile of rocks. But then it hit me in the head “If the monster was flying at me…Where was that other guy?” Because I’d zoned out I’d left my little friend to tackle the monster himself and it seemed he’d taken a rather large bump to the head and was currently hurtling towards the ground. Streamlining myself and shot at the speed of a bullet through the air, my cape whistling away in the wind behind me. Finally catching up to him I knew I wouldn’t be able to slow myself down quickly enough so I grabbed tight a hold of him and made sure I had him on top of me. I hit the ground first…

Dust clouds billowed into the air above; the media had already gathered and were, as we speak, gathering footage of the fight. I don’t remember much of the falling part but I do remember regaining consciousness, there he was in front of me holding out his hand, covered in dust from head to toe “Thanks for the save back there” I grabbed his hand and again went bright red thinking “Oh God he’s Irish” I had to admit I felt a little faint… he was well, really good looking. He lifted his hand and rub a small spot of blood which was running from my mouth, wouldn’t do much good since I was bleeding in a lot of places on my head, arms and legs.
The media crews were bustling about outside and all froze as the door to the hall flew open, dust hovered into the air and, in a very heroic entrance may I add, appeared myself and the Irish guy. “Liberty Girl! Is this your new sidekick?” That same question erupted from so many mouths it was hard to understand what was actually said, I raised my hands and coughed once or twice “No, we haven’t actually spoken before this evenings events.” And with that I limped off away from the media, luckily the police were there to hold them back. “Whoa wait we haven’t had a chance to speak” He offered his hand, I gladly took it as he shook mine “I’m…” He paused “I’m Teleko” My hand shook and I withdrew it to my forehead and turned around as I began laughing “Your kidding me right” I paced around him and not trying to sound like I was flirting but, looked him up and down “Irish, about my age, You call yourself Teleko and you’ve got the exact same costume…” He smiled blankly and was just about to speak before I butted in “Michael right?” His expression dropped into a very confused look “How did you know?” I lifted both hands towards my face and pulled my mask off, flicking my hair back over my shoulder “I can probably tell why you don’t recognize me, you’re probably thinking Oh she’s Liberty Girl I’m star struck!” I blushed and looked up at him “I’m Megan” His eyes widened the poor guy seemed to be having a hard time understanding it all, but next I knew my face was implanted in his chest. “I knew there was something about you!” Without warning he let emotions fly “God woman you look different...I mean i'd never assumed that You! You of all people! You’re Liberty Girl… You haven’t told anyone have you” I shuck my head and replied with a little mumble “No, No-one knows…But now you’ve helped me you have to know, you’re in for a helluva’ ride.”

I’d woken up pretty early on that Saturday morning, the dreams I was having lately were stranger than usual because every time they finished I would wake up with a jolt upward and break out in a cold sweat. To be honest I could see why… there was this guy in every one of my dreams, he just stood in the background in a black cloak and right at the end the view would pan into his face, then his eye. The eye was what frightened me most, it was red and bloodshot and always gave me the feeling I was being watched. Saturday had the worst weather possible, rain, rain and guess what, more rain. It chucked it down from dawn ‘till dusk, and I was out in it getting thrown about, yet again, by that big guy from the school. “Girl gives up yet?” He threw another punch at me managing to centre it in my face, blasting me into a nearby office block. “Since when did you get that idea into that thick skull of yours” I managed to quickly swerve under him, swatting his back with my fist. It did nothing, since the last time I’d met him he seemed to be getting stronger. His laugh grated on my mind “Hah. Is girl not giving up? Girl die more painfully then.” I shudder at every word, either that or I was shuddering at the growing tension on my chest and neck since I was now pinned to the floor in a lovely little pool of blood. “No. I don’t give up. And I certainly won’t die.” I grabbed his right foot and twisted it 180 degrees, the thing yelped in pain and tumbled to the floor, I pulled myself up looking more of a wreck than usual. Now that his foot was broken the thing had fear in its eyes and laugh manically as it sunk through a black hole in the floor, leaving me standing soaked in the rain whilst the media gather round.

Occurrences like that happened almost every day and my little friends visits were becoming more frequent and seemed to be causing more injury as the days went by. It was Sunday and Michael was back in England after a few days back in Dublin, his presence was felt by the public but again they relied on only me to defeat the new menace that was appearing on the streets. This “menace” was intriguing, most of the times I’d face up against minions of sorts, small shadow like creatures able to produce large amounts of darkness. But there always good news to follow the bad, I and Michael had been invited along to Sweden during Sunday afternoon, apparently the 3rd crystal had been found by a scientist who didn’t use the power in it for himself but was currently building something he wished to show us.

The building he worked in was immense compared to anything I’d ever seen in Newcastle, although upon arrival in his part of the building everything seemed much smaller since all his equipment was jam packed together. “Welcome Liberty Girl… Teleko, this project I have been working on is specially designed for your use since the crystal I used is as I believe the same one as you have in your rucksack there Liberty Girl” I grabbed my backpack and nodded, the crystal was poking out the side pocket. He wandered over a white sheet covering something and pulled it off revealing a small but very well built cyborg. “This is project Vahiki, I have been working on him most of my life and the crystal has provided a living energy source. This package here” He pointed to a brown box “It contains communicators, nanobots and many other things you may find useful” He paused and walked away shutting the door behind him. “That was rather rude, wasn’t he going to finish?” That was the last thing I uttered for the rest of the day, the trip home was awkward, carrying Michael, a box and a robot across the sea and having these dreams in your mind isn’t a good mix.

Monday. I hadn’t spotted any of those new foes on my way to school as of yet, which is a good thing because I just found a good use for those nanobots, well Vahiki did, I simply added them to my costume and it regenerates if it has any holes in it. Anyway, most of the school day was the usual but I kept seeing that eye in my head and the feeling kept overwhelming me. The weather then took a turn for the worst, rain, thunder, lightening, the works and what made it worse was they were back. People fled as hundreds of those small creatures flooded the school yard and started wreaking havoc… and there he was the guy from my dreams standing on top of the main building watching the terror unfold, which was my cue to don the costume.
“Michael can you hear me through this thing? I’m going to need assistance, how quickly can you get to Newcastle” The communicator buzzed as I hovered into the air in full costume, a reply started fizzing out the speakers “I can hear you, and I’ll be over the as soon as I can, I’m caught up myself” I clicked the communicator to off mode. Although I had Vahiki to assist me he wasn’t working yet so I had to call for Michael’s assistance, even if I had his assistance we weren’t prepared for how this was going to turn out.

I frantically pressed the buzzer on Vahiki “Come on you! Get up…” He buzzed, jerked and then something fizzled, guess I’d broken his fuse box. So it was up to me and me alone for now. I flew over the yard and in a single shot dove into the group slamming my foot deep into the ground creating shockwaves, sending all those little creatures flying into walls.
“Need some help?” I almost jumped out of my skin and flung my fist around whacking Michael in the face. Luckily he’d managed to suspend my fist in a gravity field before I hit him. “When I said help I didn’t mean mental help. Anyway what are these things?”
“They’re dark ones.” His nose twitched slightly and he looked at me all puzzled.
“You what? How do you know this?” I laughed and looked at him, then back out across the yard to see those shadow creatures crawling back out of cracks in the floor. “I know because I dreamt it” He nodded; at least this was one person who was willing to believe everything I said, I wasn’t exactly surprised though since this had happened to both of us.
He looked around us turning 180 degrees and sighed “Look I see the guy on the roof, he looks more your type. I’ll take the big load.” I didn’t have to say anything and just nodded as he sent several more of those little shadow things flying in every direction, but that wasn’t my biggest worry… that guy was.

“I don’t know what you’re planning, but it’s time we end this!” The rain pelted down on me as I stood on the roof of the main building, my costume was already soaked but he seemed dry in his appearance. His eyes looked up at me and a grin rose out from under his hood “I was wondering when I could meet you; you’re quite the extraordinary being you know. If only you would work for me.” I clenched a fist at my side, what was this guy playing at he sounded like some generic villain, I mean which sane hero would just say to a villain “Hey yeah! I’ll play along; you seem like a good guy.” Well not me that’s for sure, so what’s a better way to resolve it but to smash his face in with my fist.

I felt pain for the first time in weeks; he had grabbed every one of my punches without even breaking a sweat. “Awwh is the little hero hurt, that’s only part of what I can do.” I managed to break his grip and stumble backward. I started flying upward, he followed. The sky was thick and dense with clouds so I thought I may have lost him but like every good super villain he had a way of tracking down the heroes without seeing them. Just my luck.
I felt his arms wrap around my torso and then something dig into my chest, the clouds slowly seemed to travel downward. Well that was until I realised I was travelling upward and the hooded figure was floating above me, “Isn’t it time you gave in to the darkness Liberty Girl? Or do I need to force you into it.” A sharp stabbing pain centred itself in my stomach as he jabbed me with both fists and in a blast of darkness I was plummeting back down towards the earth. Falling…Falling…

One of the few hundred people had managed to escape the madness and was running towards the front gate when shockwaves shook the area and I hit the ground creating a huge crater “What was that!?” She stumbled over the crater where I lay; unfortunately I was unaware of this because I was out cold, and what was worse was that it was my best friend Chelsea.
“Damn, I was hoping it’d be something else. But not you…” She paused and sat down next to me, biting her lip. “I could try it, but it’d be wrong…” She looked down at me, as I groaned and tilted my head. She quickly sat up and I had no power to stop what she did. The mask was removed and her eyes widened in fear and she stumbled backward out of the crater. “It’s not what it looks like. I…I should have told you earlier” I writhed in pain and sat up clutching my stomach with my arm. She shook her head in disbelief “But…But it can’t be you!” I stood up slowly and offered my hand “I’ll explain It all later…Just get out of here” She nodded quickly and kept double taking as she ran towards the shattered gates. Even though that was over the worst was still to come.

"Meg! Are you ok?" Michael flew down from a distance helped me onto my feet "Did that guy get you?" I nodded slwoly and grabbed my stomach in pain "Vahiki is up, he's taking care of those Black things and..." He paused as that hooded guy landed on the floor infront of us, just laughing "So easy to harm you heroes..I won't hurt you if you give me your crystals" Thats when he looked at me and grinned "And you. You were the first, the first is always the strongest. You'd do perfectly working for me" Michael had to literally restrain me as a sudden burst of Anger began to surge through my vains, with that hooded guy around it just seemed a whole lot worse.

"It that a no? Ok then...I'll leave you for now, but don't worry. I'll be back" He raised his arms and the ground shook producing black liquid. He disappeared into it in an instant. "That guy seriously did some damage to you didn't he?" Michael let go of me as i balanced myself out. Vahiki flew over from the yard, tilting his head "Greetings Meg. I am Vahiki, here to help!" He was such a chirpy robot considering he'd almost wiped out a whole bunch of Shadow creatures by himself. At the point I collapsed on my back and just lay there, the rain hitting off my face "What if we can't do this by ourselves? We'll need more of us, there has to be more crystals" Michael nodded in agreement, Vahiki just tilted his head again, all three us of had gotten ourselves into a right mess here, i think then was the perfect time to quote spiderman. "With great Power comes great Responsibility"

"Liberty Girl. Teleko. Come in, This is Vahiki." I answered the communicator as i was clambering out of bed on the Saturday morning "Vahiki, i hope you realise it's 3 in the morning.." He said nothing there was just a buzz in the background and a few explosion sounds "Hey Guys, Whats going on? Its like 3 in the morning and I had explosions ringing in my ear.." Vahiki buzzed back with an answer "Theres something going on in New York... Some sort of massive Shadow Minion, like from Monday..." It crackled and the connection broke off. "Michael, Meet you in New York?"
"Oh sure! You decide"
"Yeah well i was the first with powers, now shut up and fly over there" We'd always argue like this, guess it was a conflict of Personalities. But i sure was looking forward to going to New York, I'd never been there in my life, but to save it, thats just way to cool.

New York. It was 10 in the evening there since they were 5 hours behind. But the skyline is stunning even at night, well that was until i was fired into the Statue of Liberty by an invisible shadow creature. Vahiki, as usual, made an appearance from nowhere "Oh there you are! Greetings again! I see you've met the shadow" I pulled myself out of the statues arm and flew next to him "Sure have, Where's Michael?" Vahiki pulled his crossbow out and aimed at the creature "He's over there, beating the living daylights out of the thing with rubble." I huffed and flew around the creature and started pelting it with punches. Nothing but another bat across one of New Yorks streets, "This is useless, its huge and it wants something" I sat up and clicked my fingers "Another crystal..It should be heading.." I flew upward and looked around, smoke was billowing from a busy area of the city "Heading from over there!" I sped off, Michael paused for a second and muttered to Vahiki "Where's she off to, Never consults us does she?”.

I landed in the crater infront of several cameras which were flashing over and over. “Good to see the media isn’t bothered by the large rampaging Shadow creature..Typical” I knelt down and brushed the ground with my hand “Nothing..” I tilted my head up to see foot prints leading off infront of me “Looks like we’ve found out crystal theif..” I flew upward and started following the footprints until i stopped by a pier. “Dead end. Yippee..Back to the big scary monster then!” Michael was still trying his best to beat the living day lights out of it, barely succeeding. “Wow, Big monster looks Beat Mike. Such a GOOD job”
“Wow, Meg! Such a good job at SARCASM! Meanie”
“Ok you two less of the fighting please, and more the attacking at the same time” What would we have done without Vahiki, Through most times we’d faced with him there he’d stopped myself and Michael from fighting.
"Hey remember when we first killed that stone thing and I SAVED YOUR LIFE?!"
“Michael SHUT UP! And listen to the robot...” We both grunted at each other and turned to Vahiki “Ok we attack this thing at the same time. The Blue crystal on its head seems to be the weak spot so aim for that. Ready?”
“Ready.”
“Ready when Meanie is” I punched Michael in the arm then turned as we all flew in simutainiously, aiming for the blue crystal. Something exploded. All three of us were slammed into the water at full force. I popped my head above water and shook the water off my head “Ack! Im soaked. You guys ok” Michael had Vahiki attached to his face, so he just gave a thumbs up. I looked up, bobbing up and down in the water as the smoke cleared. “I don’t think we caused that explosion.” The Shadow creature was lieing on its back, by the Statue of Liberty with a JCB stuck in the blue crystal on its head. “Meg! Why’d you hog all the glory again” Shouted Mike, pulling the small robot off his face. “This time it wasn’t me..Wait, Since when did i? Oh enough of it...I didn’t throw that!”
A hand tapped me on the shoulder and was held out infront of my face. “Need a hand?” There he was, he looked exactly like the male version of Liberty girl, well me. His costume was unbelievably similar, He had a star insignia on his chest aswell as Five running down the arms and legs on his costume. “Liberty Girl i presume?” He looked over to Michael and Vahiki “And your friends aswell?”

We pulled ourselves to dry land and tryed to dry off our costume “How did you throw that JCB? I’m like the only person in the universe who could probably..” My attention diverted to his cape Broche, which was another of those crystals, this time it was yellow. “Oh now i see, You’re the one who found the crystal” I offered my hand and smiled happily “Liberty Girl!” he took my hand and shook it, smiling himself “Freedom Star.” The unexpected part was the hug he gave me. “This is odd. Michael never gave me a hug”
“Why would i want to hug you anyway? Meanie” He huffed and folded his arms, I squeezed my way out of Freedom Stars grip “This is Teleko, and Vahiki. My partners in the Heroism business” I looked at the two of them and then turned “I know its sudden, but how would you like to join us?”
He looked at the boys then back at me and nodded slowly “I’ll accept.”
