With my Bots/Traps MM I summon them once I have the samples and found a suitable firebase. The first time I went to collect the samples I summoned them but found myself having to resummon some of them a few times. Them aliens didn't take a liking to my boys 
I don't trawl my bots around with me in BB, and only summon at the firebase. Mainly because there is so little opposition in BB so you don't need them.
Collecting with PFF can't be done as the Ore Extractor is essentially an "attack".
Best tactic is to superspeed/fly/superjump/teleport in and activate the temp power before the Shivans around the meteor even spawn.
This gives you a good chance to extract the meteor piece and then bug out!

A quick bit of advice needed here. I have a bots 'n' bubbles MM and also feel the need to have a shivan available should the need arise.
When in Bloody Bay, should I summon the Bots then wander round dragging them along to collect the meteor samples or should I run round without my faithful bots and only summon them for the firebase? Will dragging them round the zone just attract trouble?
Can I collect meteor samples with PFF up?
