Hello there!

basically, my ice/fire is lvl 34 now.. and going well, it's an AoE build, and my attacks are pretty sorted. my only concern is the defense choices i have left.

I have all the ice defense set, apart from permafrost. I have stamina, health, sprint, cj and sj from pools.

my choices at 35 are:

tough (respec in kick for hibernate)
aidself (respec in stimulant for hibernate)
permafrost
hasten

i'm just in a really big quandry over which will prove more benficial to the character. i can't get another of those four options until 49 with my planned build:

32 - hibernate (can be respec'd out)
35 - ?
38 - Greater fire sword
41 - pyre mastry -> char
44 - pyre mastry -> fire bolt
47 - pyre mastry -> fire ball
49 - ?

I know i could drop my planned epics, but i want fireball

so i need to decide which two powers to fit in my two ?'s... any help would be very much appreciated.. cause i really don't know what to go for.

thanks in advance,
Mr M

Hasten is very handy from a Hoarfrost/Energy Absorption/Hibernate perspective, as well as your attacks.

If you don't mind dropping Hibernate then Aid Self is the better choice from that and Tough (And Boxing is better than Kick).

Permafrost is a waste of time unless you're going to be doing a lot of PvP or spending all your time tanking Infernal.

As for the final choice - you could take SS (if you go the Hasten Route) for another travel power (+stealth if you ever want it) or you could take something like Stimulant, Aid Other, Assault, Recall Friend - generally I try and go for powers that don't need slotting when looking for "filler" so that I don't have to waste slots on them.

Then again, if you don't have Incinerate I'd highly recommend it if you can spare some slots for it.

I'd fit in Hasten. It improves some of your most important powers for survivability. Also glowing orange hands are pretty good with fire sets.

Permafrost has too little fire res for me to waste a power, you're capped on cold anyway.

The fighting pool on a Ice tank. I'd only go there if I could fit in Weave as well, Tough has a comparatively small effect on an Ice tank as there is nothing to stack it with. Maneuvers protects you better than Tough given your defence from other armours.

Aid self is meant to be good, I've never tried it on a tank. It certainly would be a better choice than Tough. For dps survival it is probably better than Hibernate, it probably needs more slots though.

Incinerate is a good one to have, but I guess now that veteran rewards are around, Sands of Mu probably fills in your single target attack chain ( I think of it as a Smoke Punch on my Fire/fire tank ).

As for the last power. I got build up on Golden Golem. However the last power always seems a bit pointless, as you can't really slot it well.

PS Don't you like hibernate? I find it's awesome. It really whacked up my survivability by a massive amount. I bind it to the ` key ( next to 1 ) so I can activate it at a moment's notice. Generally though I'll plan to have it go off about 10 before I activate it so I can really consolidate aggro with a taunt and a foot stomp. I guess though as I use perma rage, I am used to my aggro turning off every few minutes anyway.

Another vote for Hasten.

As a very oversimplified generalisation, if you haven't taken Tough by level 30, you didn't need it anyway.

How many slots do you have available too, because it is pointless us recommending a power that should have 4 slots if you've only got a couple available due to other powers' needs?
