Propaganda poster

Seeing as my main character The Stickler is quite conceited, I thought he should get one of those "Obey" posters that's so popular these days. Heed his words, he knows you're in the wrong.

Obey The Stickler.

Oh wow. Cool pose, nice hat, great colours, nice poster!! Do mine?

Thanks for the kind words. Once I finish posters of my five other played characters I will open myself up to commissions.

Good, because I like stuff like this. I look forward to seeing more posters. Make sure they're as good!

Meanwhile, I'll take a screenshot for Pistol and think of a cool 'obey' slogan for her.

The choice of colours reminds me a lot the 40's propaganda posters.
Red and white (plus black) as colours were quite notorious.
So it gives an opressive feeling, enhanced by the slogan.

The secondary slogan "Being right gives might" is a nice variation, great idea.

You added elements in the upper left corner of the main image, but I see no links to the character or the slogan.

I recently cobbled together an "anti drug" style poster featuring one of Honourable United's very own Jakey K. You can see it here.

It's no where near as good as the above example.

(It's probably worth noting that Jakey is himself a big fan of Catnip)

Hehe. Thats funny Cap.

You always give me such good PR though, Cap, I could be an axe murderer and still get invited to all the swanky parties.

Don't ask me about joining Honourable United, I'm lazy. Ask Captain Cathode.

Theres an old saying that friends help you move but real friends help you move bodies...where did you wantme to put that axe again Jakey?

It seems to me that in todays celebrity endorcement world that the people promoting good causes are often by default those people most contrivuting to the badness in the first place. The fact that a drug adicted superhero would be used as a role model to keep kids off drugs makes as much sence to me as Jade Goodie beenig made Britains new race ambasador.

I like that WWII propaganda look.

I like the poster, its very cleverly done. If anything dont quite fit its the look of the character within it to the time in history it reminds me of, but the logos, colours and slogan are great.
On the war poster of "your country needs you" the focal point for me is dead centre on the guys face and pointed finger and its dead easy to read the text around it but in your case i am so much more interested on whats around the character in the middle as its so much more meaningful and interesting.
But for me its still really good poster, impactful too, i think you could go places in that.

He will honor his words; he will definitely carry out his actions. What he promises he will fulfill. He does not care about his bodily self, putting his life and death aside to come forward for another's troubled besiegement. He does not boast about his ability, or shamelessly extol his own virtues. - Sima Qian.

Thank you. That was the point.

In this case it's plus gray. But most designers know that white, red and black is the most effective and stark color combination. I have designer friends who tend to do most of their primary work using those colors and then change the color scheme later.

Where do you think the commando comes from? Honestly, the design needed something to balance the point there, and planes are quite effective as a sign of militaristic might, and since The Stickler uses Soldiers and the Commando comes in by parachute, I thought it fitting.

Awesome poster I can't really think anything intelligent to say so I'll just clap my little hands and cry "More! More! MORE!"

Reading your comments it sounds like you gave proper thought to all the elements, composition and colors and I for one love to hear why and how people do their pieces (if it's not giving away tradesecrets, anyway )

More!

Thanks for all the kind words - they've been inspiring enough that I've knocked out another one, even though I really don't have the time...

Here's a little electric girl I call Shocking Blue.
