I've thoroughly enjoyed playing with you so far. Depending on the frequency needed I could play the parole officer. The important question is, how much IG facetime is needed?
I can come up with ideas, write stories and settle things through PMs quite easily but when I log a character in it so far has almost exclusively been Coile. Out of the sleeve I pull "one hour a week" that I could do, max.
Sis_Kin's proposal was something the two of us had discussed regarding the situation. The idea of the ""Off-Screen" character being played by someone was one that I got from another game. An RPer there had the idea of having other people in the RP circle use empty character slots to create "bit-part" characters. As an example, one character had reported having disagreements with his family, especially his mother. So another player created the mother as an alt, and every once in a while would turn up to make life awkward. So, essentially, these characters would take the role that NPCs play in tabletop RPGs.
In the case of the Parole Officer given here, it wouldn't be a full-time RP. It would be perfectly realistic to just schedule a weekly meeting of an hour or so, where Zeyna reports to him. And, of course, if any other heros have similarly shady pasts, the part could be expanded by having them report to the same Parole Officer.
This can, of course, be taken much further. How many RPers are going to fill all twelves character slots? Take the time to create minor characters to enhance RP with them!
I'll be interested in hearing people's thoughts on this, both the situation in question and the concept of minor characters in general.

Count: Twelve character slots full, two alts created on Defiant because I didn't have room on Union, at least two character concepts I have been thinking of and haven't created yet. /shame
I think the idea is very good, makes the world a more living place. I sadly have my hands full with my own alt (/curse on altitis), but thumbs up for others ^^. I know one girl who might be needing a parole officer at some point :P
A question though, I thought Longbows are supposed to be normal humans (that was at least how it was in the SG, but some of the NPC Longbow's got blue skin etc.)?

I have on my slots a character for a plot that never happened. I also created Coile's father so that Love Angel could talk to him directly IG instead of going by forum RP. I've used alt spots for, well, alts every now and then, and sometimes the NPCs just creep into PC-life and I'm stuck telling their stories too.
I understand that the officer would not be a full time character but there could still be a need for him, say, every other night, or just once a week briefly. Just wanting to make sure that I won't be a disappointment.
As per further discussion I think I landed on the job so I'll try to come up with a plausible and interesting character. If someone else is in need of a parole officer feel free to contact me. I'll see what can be done.

Yeah you landed the job Coile. Didn't think about you could use him for other toons, which is a great idea ^^ I wish I had more free toonslots on union =(

I suddenly have this image of a bunch of shady, semi-reforemed types sitting in a room every week with the Parole officer... Potentially a very interesting RP addition for the heroes.
If people like the alts idea- and it seems that people do- then we could use this thread, or start another, to have people put their "wanted" ads- say who you'd like to have a walk-on part in an existing RP, and then people can reply to take the job. It seems to have worked with the Parole Officer, so why not with other things?
I have many empty character slots, and would be more than willing to take up such a role. My main is a villain, and so has limited RP opportunities.
Oh, and with regards to the actual character of the Parole Officer- the one in the RP is currently suspected of doing Bad Things, so it wouldn't be too much of a stretch to say he was guilty, got fired (or at least suspended), and was assigned to a new Parole Officer. If not, the paralysed thing will take some creative working around (but not impossible). Of course, it's Sis_Kin requesting the character, so she should have final say.

Evie from Apache Longbow at least had psychic powers, Judge Anderson style. And I remember reading from some place that there are officially powered individuals in Longbow. Tho can't find the link right now.

Hi all. I've started to RP a bit more frequently with my blaster Zeyna. Having a blast
. I might not participate much when there are loads of people as I feel a bit noobish and lost.
anyway I've discoverd it's much easier to play with a few people around and as mine and another players character started to hang out a storyline started to develop.
Zeyna is a hero on probation. She was released from the zig on the condition she would work for hero corps and fight her former associates: the Freakshow. Her parole officer is a former Long bow captain, that after a brutal fight with circle of thorns got paralyzed from his waist and down. He is a psychic and mind scans his charge now and then to make sure she is still working on the right side of the law. Zeyna knows it and accepts it.
Now then trouble has arised when she met this villain, and she has discovered that her parole officer (named Tyler) has a mean streak. He found out about her night with the villain and wasn't very pleased.
So if anyone has a free toonslot and free time and wants to play this guy, it would be fun. I'll give you free reins on his personality and history. Zeyna don't know him so well and sort of liked him, until she starts to suspect he messed with her mind more than it's allowed. It might be true or not.
hm this might sound a bit difficult and confusing. but PM me or ask here if you are interested and we can work out the details and I can describe the plot a bit more
