Suppose I should do the typical SG pimping since I've began recruiting properly recently...

SG name: Nightfall
Arcane oriented base but all origins accepted.

Aimed at casual players as much as the hardcore ones (tend to clock about 35 hrs a week myself so I'm somewhere in the middle)
Open for Badgers, PvPers, RPers or just plain gamers (plan to set up division heads as we grow so those with the most knowledgeable are leaders for the specific events).

Have a developed base with Workshop, TP room, Med room, control and energy.
27 players (not toons, people behind the toons) as of last night, a few of whom have transferred other toons into the SG (I'd like to think that means we're a decent SG to be a member of. Role on the 75 globals change!).
Fair few toons in the 0-10, 10-20 regions, handful in the 20-30 region and then one lvl 50 (Gravecall) for farming inf for the group.

All members have base access, those who I feel I can trust not to run off with all the salvage then get access to remove things from the storage. So in the mean time the TP/Med bay combination can be useful, along with the empowerment stations (tier 3 tech, tier 1 arcane).

***Promotions are NOT prestige related! (no worse way to make a player feel like nothing more than a source of prestige IMO!)***

Doing the Cap SF this weekend, hopefully with the entire team from the SG, then plan to have regular SFs within the SG, good way to encourage teaming within the SG.
Also hoping to arrange friendly (non base destructive) base raids with some of the SGs I'm friends with, good fun all round and great for the PvP players.

Not yet Cathedral of Pain ready but well on our way there, probably be ready very soon.

I'd like to think that we're easy going and friendly, good and democratic, etc..., if you have an idea I'm always willing to hear it out. (already re-organised the base due to member oppinions)

Advice from the more developed SG is of course also welcome.

Well our player number is now up to 35, so about 47 characters (once again I say roll on the global based SG limit ). Tend to get at least 15 players on most days.
Even picked up a new member through this thread yesterday.

Formed a coalition with a small RP group (Vessel of the Shadowshard) as my knowledge of RP is limited and we have a few RPers, both serious and dabblers.
The Cap au Diable SF has been put back as the average level of the team was too low so we just weren't up to it. Plan to have another crack this weekend now that more of the SG is in the upper teens/early 20's.

Very nice - I especially like how you've placed the rope bridge across to the raised platform - is that your power room? (our base has mainly tech items so I'm not so good at identifying the arcane stuff).

I was tempted to have a rope bridge in our base but I couldn't justify the space for it

Yup, that's the power room. Sadly the bridges are rigid, tried jumping up and down on it but it wouldn't budge...


PS- sorry about last night, fell asleep I was tired and camping that door for ToTing was sooooo boring during the minute intervals before I could click again. Hope the leveling continues to go well.

I figured you were asleep on the keyboard - especially when you didn't answer my /tells asking if you were ready to do that salvage trade, and then vanished (I guessed that the auto log-out got you). No probs, it was 1.45am here and I was craving sleep myself.

We can do that trade tonight, or whenever - I've got most of our SG's arcane/magic salvage on Mayhem now (except for a ton more orichalcum and spells of power in our stores, so I'll have to make a couple of trips because of the 20 stacking limit).

Levelling went pretty well - made around 3 levels this weekend with Mayhem - just a smidgen of xp short of L49 now, so I should have my second L50 in the next few days.

Back from the work trip so should be on tonight, hopefully can arrange it then (have a few other things to organise too though, e.g. change the SG MoTD to let them all know I'm back and also what's new for the SG, also address anything the members have e-mailed me about in my absence, set up some coalitions, etc...)

Hit 50 with Mayhem a couple of nights ago so I've just left him parked in Grandville by the SG portal with all that arcane salvage on him. I'll give you a yell either before or after Kaz logs in tonight (i.e. when we're not playing our new doms) and I'm sure we can work something out.

So...
Salvage trade done, we now have lots more shiny arcane salvage awaiting the time when we're finished becoming Raid-ready.

We're now coalitioned with:
Nirvana (& a friend in the group says they'd be glad to do some base raiding against us so be good fun, especially for the PvP centred/curious)

E.V.I.L are the only ones we can't have a peek around the base of so feel free to joke about this in the coalition chat, much...em... theorising as to the why of this was going on in the coalition channel last night (Bru has some plausible ideas).

Well, we now have a raid TP so we are capable of making friendly raids against others (already had arcane SG mission computer).
The Cap SF, though longer than intended, finally went well and 2 of the group dinged 20 as a result.

Thanks for that. Certainly know some of the group should be up for friendly raids and others may join out of curiousity, will have to make sure to give the group a fair heads up to make sure at least enough for a single team definitely show up. Just want to check, AFAIK there was a bug with the friendly raids before in that items destroyed would remain destroyed, is that still the case? If so I'll need to warn the guys to avoid attacking base features. Also best make sure to get some targeted slagging and comebacks keybound.

As for the SFs I've certainly let 2 of the guys know already and think I'll head off now and set the MotD to let everyone else know. Most of the group are only eligible for the first SF but hopefully they might gain the necessary lvls through it to do the next, etc....

Ok, so this week's update is that although storage is getting a little scarce for enh and insps I'm going to wait until we've expanded our plot before adding more. This is because, AFAIK, we'll likely lose most of what we have stored in the transfer over since you can't just expand the plot and transfer the rooms, incl. contents, over to the new plot. So whatever we can't easily carry on characters will be lost (at the moment 200 enhancements, 8 per char, we'll need a full 25 chars so definitely do-able at the moment but if I add more before we upgrade it'll become more difficult). The insp storage is less of a concern as people don't seem to be finding a need for them as yet, maybe once we start the base raiding, and I can rebuild that stockpile more easily as lvl 53 SOs can take time to stockpile.
At this point in time I could sell everything, upgrade the plot and recreate the workshop with all the storage we now have but no further base functionallity so I want to wait until we have enough to recreate most of the base, make sure we can still use the Teleporters and do base raiding.
Considering the current rate of prestige earning you guys are managing we should be able to upgrade in a few weeks hopefully, but no rush.

Did a little reshuffle of base control and workshop components (not storage mind you) and so freed up enough prestige that we now have a vault, with IoP base, and the 6 anchors we needed. So at the moment we should be completely set should the Cathedral of pain make a come back in the near future and should be completely set for friendly base raids (both as attackers and defenders).
Checked to see if I could set up base raids after this shuffle last night but no luck. As such I'm trying to find out what the problem is. Bru has agreed to the raid, just needs to ensure his SG are interested, so this technical hitch is all that I'm worried about.
If we can't have the base raid next weekend (18th), then I'll see about throwing a costume competition with a full set of Halloween salvage and inf as a prize instead. Either way I plan to start getting more regular events going which have absolutely no lvl requirements on them, let the whole SG enjoy them as a group.
Anyway, once I know if it'll be a raid or a costume competition I'll post further details.

You don't lose your base or anything in it when you upgrade your plot. I upgraded The Islanders' base from the default plot a couple of weeks ago and nothing was affected - all our enh/insp/salvage stores contained exactly the same items after the plot upgrade as they had done before, and no placed items were lost (crafted or not).

When you buy a new plot it lets you slide the larger plot space around the existing base, so you can choose on which side of the base you want the extra space to appear.

You don't have to destroy/delete your existing base or anything like that (thank goodness, or I probably wouldn't have bothered).

Right so, once our current raid problem is sorted I'll set about abusing every free inch of space for some storage. I've sent a petition as 3 of us spent a fair chunk of last night trawling various CoX forums for a reason as to why we're not being allowed to raid... probably end up being something stupidly simple we've missed...

This also removes the need for me to recraft stuff from salvage so I can leave all the salvage until there's something we clearly need.

Yeah storage is the main thing we use The Islanders' base for. The whole reason I upgraded plot size was so that I could add a second workshop for more storage. That's partly the fault of the trick-or-treat event though - before it we made do with 2 insp stores - now our base has 5 insp stores, 4 of them full - now we need some LRSFs to start using them up

Yeah you'll end up with lots of salvage - we have 2 almost full salvage tables just with 3 of us collecting it in The Islanders so lord knows how much salvage a larger SG like yours accumulates (well, I have an idea, considering how much Tech stuff you trade us for our Arcane salvage ).

In fact I built a level 3 Tech empowerment station a few weeks ago just to use up some of our salvage. It took ages (what a horrible tradeskill system we have - why can't we do batch combines?) and I doubt anyone is going to use it, but it looks quite spiffy

With all the new salvage being added in I9 for the Inventions system I imagine I'll need to build a few more salvage stores when that hits servers...

Yeah, I've found that in spite of having filled the insp stores with some good ones people don't seem to need them, think base raiding might change that but unless the problem we're having gets fixed that's on hold.

Ok, we're set for base raiding now. The problem was just me, was going about it in completely the wrong way. Might try set a random one (just whatever group are interested) up either tomorrow night or over the weekend to act as a test run (and some fun hopefully).
So hopefully can now just focus on building up the base further and ensuring that we have regular events for members to look forward to.

NP, that's ok, as I've said to Bru I plan to list details of any events (costume contests, etc...) I'm trying to arrange in here, and am planning to let anyone in SG's we're coalitioned with enter them. Should be good for the social side of things. I'll send you a tell once I log into the game (lazy sod that I am I'm just getting up ).
Most of the SG are still low level chars but it should still be fun, hopefully up the addictiveness of the game for SG members.
