I am going EM/DA
DA must haves
Dark Embrace
Obsidian Shield
Murky Cloud
Dark Regen
If you dont take CJ on the jumping route add Cloak Of Darkness to that list. CoD is actually very handy to have anyway, but not what I'd call a must have.
Acrobatics from leaping is a must have, CJ from leaping (of no CoD) is a must have.
That's about it.
"Well, they found my diary today.
They were appropriately appalled
at the discovery of the eight victims
They're now putting it all together.
Women wrapped in silk
with one leg missing
Eight legs, one body, silk,
spider, brilliant!"
Thank you, Cynic. But is Air Superiority more important than CJ or CoD then? I have never used it before (I used Hurl from my SS/EA build to bring down flying Heroes before).
Its very handy, but with no imobolisation protection (which DAs only get in CoD or CJ) then you find yourself in a lot of hopeless situations.
I'm thinking of putting AS back in my build at 49, because it is very handy, however the abillity not to be frozen out of melee range on a pure melee character is more important to me

Is it possible to 'super jump' up and hit a flying foe? I am not really sure how Air Superiority works, never having used it before.
This is vaguely how I see myself going. till 40. Are there any gaping holes I've missed? Or redundant powers I have put in?

There is, afaik, no interrupt time. Which means you can superjump up, bring them out of the air (using an overhand smash from 40 feet away is fun ), and start wailing on them. Enjoy
Also, IMO cloak of fear is better than oppresive gloom when fully slotted (even with your disorient). For PVE, when 3 slotted it rules minions out of the fight completely. For PVP, it can (if you're lucky) fear a character out of the way. If you combined it with a fear-inducing power from the presence pool, only a DA scrapper would have the means to get past it to attack you.
edited for typo on PVP.
Interesting, thank you
One of the advantages /DA has are the three PBAoE auras. For PvE you want 2 max. DS + OG works fine for me, but my brute has a immob and alot of knockdown to keep the mobs close. DS + CoF will drain alot of end and Fear really shines in PvP due to the low resist. OG won't disorient every single mob so you'll still get fury, while CoF is a bit too effective and lets your fury drop more than OG.
Also don't take Murky cloud till 30, that's when the big groups of flamethrowers, sappers and energy mobs first show up. Before that you can handle them.
I haven't yet worked out my complete template. I probably will take Stamina with Jumping as my travel power.
My first question is, do I need Air Superiority.
My second is, if you have any thoughts on 'must haves' or 'don't needs' for an EM/DA build, please tell me them. If you have a EM/DA template you use yourself, I'd love to see it.
Thanks.
