What is Arena?
Okay..There are arenas located in CoH and CoV.
In CoH try Galaxy City or Talos
In CoV go to Port Oakes or look inside the Giza in St. Martial
Once you get to an arena you can set up a play vs player fight. You do this using arena consoles (they are blue and found in the Arena). These fights will not give you any debt etc. and are really just for fun (although there is a rating system and you can rate your match if you like)
You invite people to join your contest using /ai <character name> . You can also join existing games by selecting the eligible tab at the arena console.
Cool! Thanks for that. I've seen the arenas, run around them etc. but no where does it say "find blue terminals and invite other platers" etc.
But can you (or anyone) explain how Gladiators (badges) supposed to work?
P.S. Thanks again.
In arena, dotted around each section (on the top floor) are lots of consoles. - these will allow you to either, create, or join a computer controled scheduled event (with others if there is interest) or by inviting a friend to play with you.
Go to console, click on create event. followed by list event. - that will then be open to all players that scan the arena console.
Or you can do /ai <name> to auto invite a pal.

Gladiator badges are awarded to you throughout your game experience, very much like gaining a normal badge, (kill x amount etc etc), you can check what you have by looking in your badge screen in coh under gladiators.
To choose the gladiators, go to a console, choose "pick gladiators" then you have 2000 credits to spend on funding your team, depending on what you have already unlocked, a lvl 50 chr will have a lot more choice than a lvl 20
These work in the exact same way as making an event. but istead of choosing free for all choose "Gladiator match"
Hope this helps, good luck and happy fighting.
Thanks again!
I know about the gladiator badges just wasn't sure how they were used in Arena (I was curious after I found out that by selecting Sorcerers for your gladiators their healing goes towards the "Healing Others" badge, and is the only way of getting it without actually having any healing powers).
Must give it a try tonight! ;-)
Ill try to sum it up for an example fight that would be easy to explain without explaining all the options.
Click arena terminal inside arena, and make sure the friends you are fighting are inside arena as well (you dont need to be at same arena building, just inside one).
1.) click create event
2.) choose type of match
3.) choose level range
4.) choose match time (usually 10 or 20 minutes)
5.) choose amount of players
6.) invite everybody to the match by /ai <name> at your chat window.
7.) if you do team match, arrange people into teams by choosing a 'color' for each player.
8.) when everybody is ready, click 'invite only' at lower right corner, and click "start event" twice. Timer should start.
For a gladiator match, people need to choose their gladiators before being invited to the match by opening a terminal and clicking 'your gladiators'.
Hints:
- remember to buy insps beforehand
- Start match detoggled, because toggles automatically drop when match starts, and you may have towait for them to recharge.
- heroes can fight villains in arena
- Experiment and have fun!
Cheers! Love these forums, their so helpful. Just wish I could get such quick responses when I'm looking for Task Forces team mates ;-)
Just wish I had more mates who played CoX! As it is I'll have to try either being invited, or the "eligible" option someone mentioned.
Once you get some more people on your global friends list, try getting some people interested but say you wont be doing it until -insert day here-. If you plan ahead, then you're likely to get a better turn out. Y'know, with making sure they have some hours spare.
and you could try to use the arena channel... however it seems people chattin there dont seem that much intersted in arena. That is, if you dont count senseless spam bout random topics to arena
"god, how many devs did hami have to sleep with to get ED?"

Probably should go in th player questions threads but seemed more sensible here...
I'm new to CoX (about 3 months), but don't understand how Arena matches work?
I've tried finding stuff out here and other sites but most of it is geek-speak about pwning someone and how much people hate stalkers in the PvP zones (boo hoo, life's unfair ;-)).
Can anyone give me a little guidance? Thanks
