COV kinda boring tbt
hmm i gotta agree i'm starting to get a little bored of CoV i don't play it as much now....
well it is nearly summer...
or you could play CoV outside on your laptop
Finding a team is a joke on CoV, in fact running into another villain in any zone other than Mercy is an experience to be treasured.
There are no meeting points, there is nowhere in Mercy for all the 40s (soon 50s) to stand around and chat and show off their characters and shiny powers.
PuGs happen more often on CoH. Why? Because Controllers and Defenders (at early levels especially) are team support and are practically forced to team to get up in the game. All of the CoV ATs are soloable, Brutes and MMs don't need a team at all and once you hit decent level newspaper missions neither do Stalkers (go to end, kill boss, rinse repeat). I know a lot is down to the players playing, but the ATs do sway it in the direction of not teaming.
I've never really liked the atmosphere on CoV, the zones, ATs and general feel and look of the Rogue Isles lacks any appeal to me. But a lack of active community outside of SGs is what kills it.

Oh, and arachnos maps are optimized better in I7.

hate going OT but i'd like to just touch on this for a second.
k firstly i have to mention i have a map making background in Half Life's Team Fortress Classic and have made afew well know maps.
This is in no way a brag its just to point out i've designed levels in the past.
Now .. the archnos map i have to say is poorly designed basicly because there is so much map that can be viewed at one time, this is because of the wire mesh walls and roof giveing a player a larger viewable distance.
Cryptic realised this and added vis blockers which are a way to reduce the visable distance and player can see so that players computer renders less of the map only problem is vis blockers (or hint brushes for those who know about such things) are not the best way to reduce r_speeds(basicly frame rate) in a map and they can have the reverse effect and at are best a bodge up.
Also note that what you see and what your computer renders are 2 totaly different things .. you could see 60 feet but your computer could render 300 feet infront of you.
In i7 the archnos map has had more vis blockers added and the viewable distance reduced more but basicly its still down to the poor construction of the map and sloppy level construction i've seen in CoX on a whole.

Well, I guess eveyone's entitled to their point of view, even if it is wrong
The debate on CoH/CoV has been raised in countless other threads and the same old arguments will be trotted out. However, here are the pro's and cons of each game.
CoH
- More active community. I've had a look at a few figures over the last few nights and CoH regularly has around 30-35% more players on. What is interesting is that the gap is closing though and certainly in the last 2-3 months, CoV has been catching CoH up as back in February, it was closer to 50-60% more.
- Better teams. The quality of teaming on CoH is better than CoV in general. Several reasons for this with the two main ones being that CoH AT's complement each other more and there is a lot more knowledge about on how to team on CoH due to it being around longer. Most of those complaining about bad teams on CoV do seem to be a little forgetful of what teams in CoH were like over a year ago!
- More content. Goes without saying. More TF's, more zones, more GM's
- More variety. Each zone in CoH has it's own unique character, Peregrine Island, The Hollows, Shadow Shards, Terra Volta, they all seem very different with different enemy groups throughout. For CoV, Nerva and St. Martial stand out but the other zones all seem pretty samey.
- More enemy groups. In CoH, it's quite rare you will see common enemy groups throughout lvl 1-50 with lots of different ones available. In CoV, once you get away from Legacy, Snakes and Goldbrickers, you're pretty much stuck with Arachnos, Council and Longbow, with the occasional Rikti, Freak and Carnie thrown in. More high level content with some of the newer groups like Coralax would have been nice.
CoV
- More/better arcs. In CoV, all the arc's are interconnected. They really do so much more to flesh out the Co* world as a whole than those on CoH do. The time sepnt on this background just makes it seem more 'real' as an environment.
- It's challenging. I like the fact that teaming in CoV does take a bit more skill than CoH, the hero side of the game has always been too easy and the challenge in CoV is welcome. One thing I have noticed is that even on the lowest setting, CoV quite regularly spawns +1 enemies. Yes, soloing an MM is easy but no easier than soloing a regen scrapper was when CoH first came out.
- Much better SF's. The standout Eden aside, the SF's in CoV are of a much better quality than CoH. On CoH, there are some good TF's, on CoV they are all good. The crystal room of Ice Mistral, The sight of the Leviathan and stepping out of the boat to see the oil rig and swarms of sky raiders on the silver Mantis SF all give them something unique, which Citadel, Positron, Manticore and Co do not offer.
- More imagination for missions. OK, the missions will always be limited but I like the fact ambushes can take you by suprise on CoV, I like the fact there are almost none of the dull 'kill 10' or 'Visit Mr. X' missions on CoV.
- Better design. Crawling across 7 different zones to do missions before you get a travel power is awful on CoH. the fact one of those zones is the abomination of the Hollows where lvl 7 missions are given miles away in lvl 15-20 areas is stupid and being given missions in Perez when none of your teammates are on is sould crushing. The fact CoV has more of a natural progression thorugh the zones is a great move.
Overall
Both games have their good and bad points and CoH is still the stronger of the two. However, It's stronger because it's been around longer. Once CoV has the content and the community get's a bit stronger, I think that people will see a shift in the balance of power between the two.

I agree.
I had been playing CoH for several months before CoV came out. I Started CoV and got hooked strait away!
Iv got my MM to lvl 40 and gone trough many alts. With the doorway thing. I useualy let everyone go through first and yes the set up times are stupid.
Me and the Mrs have not long gone back to CoH just untill I7, and we have found that traveling is so so SO stupid. The one time I had to go to Kings row then to steel then back to kings row then to perez then back to kings then to steel, once i got a mission it sent me to hollows???? I was only lvl 11 !!!!!! running around with mist to help keep me away from being killed by foes much higher then me worked (sometimes ). CoV might be gloomy but its way better organised with contacts and zone traveling then CoH is by far. The fact that on CoV you can teleport from you base to every zone but PvP is great.
Us villains are evil, Heroes are Good. Good = cheery, happy heroes helping eachother fight crime. Evil = angry, bad Villains who want the world and will stop at nothing to get it. Just remember Heroes, SOMETIMES (note that i didn't say everytime) you need a big team just to take down a Villain!! With my corruptor and MM, most of the time i can take down a hero, so maybe you are right that we are over powerd, but in the end, is there a Villain who wants to share the world? Im not saying that every Villain wants world dommination btw.
As a lot have said, CoH has bin around for much longer, (it was the 2 year anniversary the other week) and CoV is just starting, theres still bugs and disslikes in the game that the devs need to know. Thats why we have this Forum. We give out opinions and suggestions and they use it as ammo to change the game to our liking.
Just give CoV a few more months and im sure it will get better, after all the first issue made for it is about to arrive. There has been 6 so far for CoH!! It WILL get better
I proffer CoV by far, its far easyer to get into the game, i must have spent half the my time on CoH just traveling around. And I agree, we NEED a place in CoV where old and new can banter and give advice and have some monstrous cossi comps
hence this post, too many complain about things while playing cov but never bother to do a feedback pertition so....

6 months everyday on a MMO = boring.

I can't think of anything that wouldn't get boring if I did it everyday for 6 months....well maybe some things, but not a computer game or anything like that.

ROFL Pyra what are you like
The Good:
Krazy Mary L50 Kinetic defender
Uniqua L31 PeaceBringer
Black Annis L24 Warshade
Krystal L18 Ice Blaster
The Bad:
Frenzi L34 SS/Inv Brute
This might sound a bit contradictory, but I agree with almost all sides of the argument.
As most players who were playing COH when COV came out I spent my time playing COV, started a MM, got fed up of the set up times. started a corruptor, and then got a craving to return to the right side of the law.
Since then its been mainly coh as i like the atmosphere, centralised meeting points, and general feel of COH more than cov.
However recently has seen a balance of play between the 2, mainly because of the way the sg's im in operate.
Events are now organised on both games and th result is that i am beginning to enjoy cov more and more. Hell I've even taken my MM from lvl 19 to 29 and plan to get to 40 hopefully before I7.
I almost never have teaming issues, although being in a great sg with excellent global friends does help a lot.
The point I think is that both games have merit, for me COH wins out but probably because ive been playing it longer and know my way around better.
