Tactics for soloing Longbow Ballista Elite Bosses?

My main COV character is a level 39 MA/Regen stalker.

Of all foes, the Longbow Ballista Elite Bosses give her the most trouble. On a good day, she can defeat a -1 level one, but she has also managed to be embarassingly defeated one-on-one by a -2 level one.

Currently, she has a mission where she has to defeat an even level (39) Elite boss Ballista. The EB cannot one-shot her but he can certainly kill her in two blows, and has done so several times now.

I have tried to use a "safe" tactic of "Focus Chi - AS - Placate - wait for recharge of all three - repeat" and I think that this in theory could just beat his regen rate and bring him down, albeit after a long time. However, each time I manage to get him down to around 70-80 % health, he comes up with some kind of powerful and very quick double strike after the AS, which two-shots and kills my toon before she can activate placate. This has happened 6 or 7 times now and I am slowly beginning to suspect that this may not be an optimal strategy

Does anyone have any experience with good tactics for solving this problem (apart from levelling or recruiting help; this is just to learn whether it can actually be done solo)?

I should say that I haven't taken "Moment of Glory" yet. Would that be an effective power against a Ballista EB?

I play a Brute, not a Stalker, but the tactic I use against Elite Bosses is to stock up on Purple "Luck" inspirations - 4 of those give you +100% defence, so you're a lot less likely to be hit (depending on the level of the enemy - and I think everyone has at least a 5% chance to hit, regardless of everything else). When Ballistas used to drop toggles it was the only way I could fight one without dying - less lethal now, but of course they still hit hard. At L39 you would be able to carry 12 Lucks, so would have 3 minutes to kill the boss, or you may wish to use just 3 Lucks at a time because your regen powers could probably heal up whatever else got through, then you could potentially carry 15 Lucks, enough for 5 mins.

I have a low-level Scrapper with Regeneration, and while I have no experience of using Moment of Glory I do know that it gives you incredible defence and resists for 2 minutes, but during that time your hit points are reduced to one quarter of their usual amount - with Stalkers having much lower hit-points than Scrappers I'd think it would be a gamble to use it - if any hits get through they will probably kill you. But the chances of a hit getting through would be slight... the same as using 4 Luck insps.

I guess using Luck insps for 3-5 mins then using MoG for 2 mins would give you 5-7 mins to kill the Ballista

I'm using the same tactic as Valkryst to solo EBs and AVs, it always works well for me regardless of the AT I'm playing. Pop 4 lucks at a time, they'll miss a lot ; as a stalker it's even better, because you'll be able to chain AS - normal hits - placate, AS - normal hits - ... as you won't get interrupted.
