(But your lips are sweeter than) Poison!

So, the poison set, eh? I’ve played it up to L36 on my mastermind, thought I’d post some random thoughts on it. I’m not a number-cruncher and rely more on the ‘feel’ of a set of powers (hence why I enjoyed /SR so much!). To be honest, once I got to L32 and the final upgrade on the primary I almost put the character to one side, but I’d like to get it up to 40 now I’m close.

Alkaloid gives the set a nice single target heal – it’s quick to recharge and has allowed me to function as a healer for a small group if required. I do like the early stage de-buffs (Envenom and Weaken) – they seem to be a big help against Hero targets, and Neurotoxic Breath can help lock down a mob if the team doesn’t have a dominator. Elixir of Life gives res ability with comedy side effect (my kind of power) and Paralyzing Poison is a handy little hold to deal with troublesome lieutenants – having it six-slotted with two acc, two hold and two recharge enhancements seems about right.

On slotting; as I’ve only taken five powers off the primary, it’s meant I’ve been able to free up a lot slots for the Poison set so it’s pretty comprehensively slotted.

I’ve not taken Antidote so can’t comment on that’s effectiveness, and tried Poison Trap and hated it – sleep powers seemed pretty useless as my robots fired their AOEs away at mobs. The last power looks a bit pap too, and I’m probably not going to take that either – it seems dependent on the minions on being in melee range and whilst that might be good for zombies or ninjas, robots should be working at range.

I’m fully prepared to acknowledge that I’m wrong about this though – deep down I’m a scrapper at heart, and I’m sure I play these ‘thinking required’ ATs a bit wrong! Love to hear from other poison players about this set. I think it’s got some good utility, allowing you to be quite aggressive in de-buffing and holding mobs or holding back if you need to and helping your team with heals and the like – normally for me it’s a blend of the two.

Hi dude, i liked your insight into the poison set....my lvl 40 necro/poision rocks. i must admit to not owning all the powers, but i have seen them all in action, and thus far liking them all but 2.

poison trap seems of little use and everyone else i have spoken to has agreed that it sucks The nova of the powerset is somewhat of a major disapointment when u first get it, but it soon starts to play its part....in large groups, it sure helps me to solo on relentless quit easily. However i would have prefered the power to be more like the anchor debuff of the radiation powerset....this had a much better graphical animation, and lasted a tad longer.

The heal is nice...it really helps solo and is useful in teams, the debuffs/res/antidote powers are all useful.

Anyway sorry for going on and on...very drunk and its christmas eve...in summary the poison set is very good, although a few powers seem rushed (also the animation for some of the powers could be improved) and the nova could have been soooooo much better....although dark is still far better...oh and dont get poison trap lol...

Merry Xmas .....

I agree with you Most powers in the Poison set is cool, but:

Neurotoxin Breath: Although I haven't tried this, it seems rather useless, speed reduction and recharge reduction...
Antidote: Ok in groups, but for solo it's worthless
Poison Trap: AoE says it all, Zombies and Robots have loads of AoE, Mercs and Ninjas some, all in all, it is worthless and shouldn't be in the set!
At 38, Noxious gas becomes available, and I was, mildly, looking forward to it, it's the last power I get untill the 40+ content is released and to say the least, IT SUCKS! The AoE is small, the duration is short, the debuffs are ok I guess but having to be in melee range to affect people AND it means debuffing one of your own pets, it's horiffic! On top of that, it was ment to have a hold, but the chances of that happening are SO slim, that I can't even begin to describe it (used it over a dosen times, never seen it happen yet) and the range of the power means that you almost have to be next to the pet when using it!

All in all, good powers, but the above can be left out...
