MM's and CoT portals

I'd just like to throw this to the community to see what everyones feelings are about the behmoth spawning portals in CoT maps ?
I tried one tonight with my lvl 24 merc/traps MM and got killed in 15 seconds flat.
I know mercs have no fire resists and don't do so well against it but it kinda defeats the purpose of being a MM when the portal spawns ..what ..2 behemoths per minion ? and then they go about trashing your minions till you either die or are forced to run and get the help of a higher lvl friend.
whats everybody elses experiance of CoT portals ?

Is that the way it works? I thought these things were just borked for all players, so I avoided them like the plague after my first encounter.

So 2 per minion? Does that mean cryptic think that one MM (+pets) is equal to several player characters?

I would say if the behemoths are spawning for the minions then its a bug, no other spawns are done on the number of pets, sometimes wish it could...

Yeah, the portals should be fixed, and the whole oranbegan map set should be redesigned with MM's and escorts in mind. We ran across a mision today that couldn't be completed because the (non-teleportable) hostage got to the lowest part of a big room where no pet (or player without vertical travel power) can get out of.

Its the same for controllers in CoH .. if you go near with a pet the portal will spawn extra for the pet but for MM's the amount that spawn means theres no chance of putting up any kind of fight as the pets just get defeated to fast.
If you go near the portal with no pets you only get 2 or 3 behemoths spawning but bring the pets near and more spawn.

And max is right about the whole map being borked .. lets no mention the fact that the transport portals sometimes do not allow pets to pass through so you end up with your pets running around and dragging everything with them.

I got some help from a GM with this today.

And about the regular Orangebegan portals, I have seen some strnage behaviour with the pets. Pets seem to dislike the portals, if there is any other route they can take to get you your position they will take that route instead. Even if you have not cleared that part of the map yet.

Also, with some portals you will get a random location. Here you have to go back and forth through the portal until you are at your desiered position with your pets by your side. It can be pretty annoying.
