Actually, is was more the point that Doc's responce would be to send through a small army of spy drones, do a full recon, locate Lalane and then reopen the portal right on top of her at the same time as opening a stasis field.
Doc's plan would work...

I'm with Doc... stuff the genre, do what works... or, more correctly, the genre is super-hero, do it the way super-heroes would. I'm not a fan of twisting the story to fit what I want to do with it when logic says it's the wrong way to do it.
If you don't want Doc's plan to work, make it unworkable, preferably in a way that makes sense.
So I guess I won't be going either.

The 'super hero' genre does encompass quite a lot of different genres, however. Some methodologies aren't in genre for a particular superhero style, hence the logical thing for one hero wouldn't be that of another.
In the same way that the Punisher could wander through a Teen Titans episode and machine gun the bad guys instead of having wacky hijinks. Nothing says that it shouldn't work, but it, well, might surprise the kids watching.
Birdy, 5pm is just the "If I had no idea until now, you're not comming" deadline, although I would like the relavent character details as soon as you can...
FFM, since you're not on my ICQ contact list I'll set a provisional start time of 6PM. I'll try and get everyone to the point where you can split off by the time you have to go get your other half.
6pm is pushing it, might be 5-10 minutes delayed...

I wouldn't view Doc's method as being particularly "superhero", though. Well, unless you count The Authority, I can easily see them doing it.
Most superheroes actually would simply charge in. Though, there are many, many ways to make a full recon mission either impossible or impractical. For example, a field that magically nullifies technology upon contact. You may have different "physics" in Lalane's dimension, meaning certain forms of technology have to be repaired or re-worked in order to function. The great thing about comic-book tech is that you can do something like "reverse the polarity" and such to get something to work again. Something, of course, that you can't do with a remote drone.
This works both ways, however. For example, a magical field that nullifies anyone's magical powers but Lalane's. The fact that unless you have an amulet of uberness, you have to be able to breathe cyanogen. The fact that gravity may not exist.
All the above: why dimension-hopping without recon can be a bad thing.
No problem, they're taking an energy being with them.
Cyanogen? She doesn't even BREATH in forms!
Gravity? Bleh... A pointless anoyance she can work better without!
Magic powers? HAH!
Bring it on!!!

Yeah, but the exact details of any dimension are always up to the GM/writer.
Anyway, sometimes it's more fun to anti-metagame and do something that would ordinarily be not so smart to do. Like, for example, jumping into another dimension without any idea what's waiting for you. 
Well, it's going well so far, but by 11pm, some had to go so we're continuing on Wednesday 
It didn't help that we were late starting, for the first time in about 3 years, my bloody internet connection went down!! AAArrrgghhh!!
But I tell you what, I'm having a lot of fun, shame poor Miss Ellie isn't!!

Hey, no way was I arguing about fun, that's why Jason is currently in Europe transfering several million in gold from Zuric to London.
And having vaguely watched what was going on last night, all I can say is... good job Jason wasn't there, it would have been short. I'd love to know what you could have come up with to torment him with, actually.

Not finished... Mate... I think that was just our FIRST brush with Lalane, or one of her servants...
This could take a couple of days! 
Problem is, poor Hiki was running 8 private channels as she fed each character their own personal nightmares... I'm not sure she could have done it much quicker...

Four hours is nothing! Our BESM game regularly goes on for SIX hours at a time!
Ellie was kind enough to let me see the logs. Nice stuff, very creepy, fun to see all the different reactions, and how everyone reacted to their personal nightmares. Not going to repeat any, but again it was nice to see how different characters reacted to them, especially in Z's case, who had to have four different characters, all of whom reacted differently.
Only question is, what's everyone gonna do for tonight's GG?
That's why I asked on the real-time timescale in the GG thread. I want to know how long I need to keep Jason out of the country. That said, I think Stef's going to stay off the PC tonight and if she does, I probably will too.
Oh, and FFM... the bit in italics in my post kind of implies you didn't finish. I believe the actual resolution is scheduled for Wednesday.
PS. Wordy, based on the descriptions I've heard of the BESM sessions, I knew it was going to take a few weeks to finish.

Well.. I think first we need to know if we finished it last night (IC timescale wise, or if we're not back yet - there was a 24 hour limit).
If we're back, then I can base how Ellie acts tonight just by her personal nightmare I think... Oh... dear....

Ellie mentioned something to me about the IC time for the mission being about 18:00 on TUESDAY, not Monday.

Or at least do it in a regular campaigne and arrange the individual sessions in between, simultaneously writing 7 different views on the same scene... I've still got three characters that haven't broken free
I'll post real-timescale in the GG thread too, but the events of last-night are RL chronology starting at 6pm tonight, and with luck and a lot of speed posting we should be clear by 9pm on wednesday.
I'll contact everyone tonight and arrange a start time for wednesday, early as possible though...

No major combat or nightmares will occur from this point on, so peeps are good to reappear at GG (I think everyone has already but...)

Stef stuck her head over the parapit and said that she'd like Liz to go, but it'll depend on operational details. As I said, we may not be home in time if you want a cast list by 5pm.
If she is going, Jason's out of the country on business in Europe. He might be anyway, depending on how bothered I can be to go to GG.
