Inv/SS slotting advice

Having only a lvl 5 tanker, I am starting to consider how I want my tanker to be slotted. I'm going to stick with SO's b/c frankly, I read it can be real exspensive inventing IO's and I'm not responsible with funds fake or real. I consider slotting SS with DAM increase along with making the strikes disorient more...I don't know what are some good ways to slot a inv/ss tanker.

General rule of thumb for enhancing melee attacks is start with an Accuracy or two. (Two if low level, only one is needed for high level). Gradually change to one Accuracy, then start putting Damage enhancers in. When you get to three Damage enhancers, if further enhancement is needed, start putting in Recharge Reducers or Endurance Reducers, depending on what is needed.

And only Jab takes Disorient enhancers. The other SS powers don't. (Although one does take Hold enhancers).

Edit: Also, don't let the answers to your question in the other thread discourage you from using IO's. Set IO's can be very expensive, but Common IO's - while much more expensive than SO's - are usually easily affordable even if all you do is sell your dropped recipes and salvage at Vendors.

Further edit:

Also, if you ask nicely, others will gladly post detailed build guides for you, but here is some general advice:

Resist Phys Damage is good to get early, but Resist Energies and Resist Elements are OK to put off until your 40's. Get Resist Energies first, then, if you have room in your build, get Resist Elements.

Plan your build so that you get Invincible at Level 18. As soon as possible, six slot it with:
3 Defense Enhancers and 3 Tohit Enhancers
or
3 Defense Enhancers, 2 Tohit Enhancers and 1 Endurance Reduction Enhancer.

Plan your build so that you get Stamina at Level 20. Three slot it with Recharge Reduction Enhancers.

Get Knockout Blow at level 22. Six slot it with 1 Accuracy Enhancer, 3 Damage Enhancers, 1 Recharge Reduction Enhancer and 1 Endurance Reduction Enhancer.

Get Hasten at level 24. Three slot it with Recharge Reduction Enhancers.

Get Rage at level 28. Six slot it with 3 Recharge Reduction Enhancers and 3 Tohit Enhancers.

Get Foot Stomp at level 38. Six slot it with 1 Accuracy Enhancer, 3 Damage Enhancers, 1 Recharge Reduction Enhancer and 1 Endurance Reduction Enhancer.

Accuracy is definitely important early on, not just for soloing but when teaming as well, since Gauntlet requires to you to hit your enemies to work. Accuracy TOs are the only Enhancements I bother to slot pre-level 12.

Here's a pic of my typical DO slotting at level 15. Obviously, your power choices may be somewhat difference based on travel power and other preferences.

Once you get into SOs, I think it's still a good idea to use a few Invention Enhancments. Multi-use ones like Acc/Dam can be very handy, and at the right level is usually pretty cheap. Here's the same build at level 22, with Acc/Dam IOs in each attack, plus a Def/End IO in Invincibility.

Again, your build will probably be different, but I hope that helps with some slotting ideas.

Since this is your first tank I'd suggest taking a quick peek at my mini-guide to the first 20 levels of an Invulnerability tank, it'll offer you a framework you can build on without letting you gimp yourself.

Later on you may want to check out my guide to soft capping your tank, also in my signature... set IO's don't have to cost a fortune you know. My last project, a BS/Shield scrapper, was able with little difficulty to afford his complete soft capped IO build in the mid-30's from simply playing the game and selling drops at Wentworths.

In today's game it's trivially easy to amass over $10,000,000 by level 25. By the time you're ready for IO sets in the 30's you should have a bankroll somewhere around 20-30 million... simply from playing the game and selling your drops.

Heck, I rolled a new Brute up and from doing nothing but selling drops from missions he has $6,000,000 at level 16. No market games at all, simply take your loot to the market and put it up for a bit less than the "last 5 sold" for that item. Come back the next day and nearly all of it will have sold. Common IO recipe's I sold to the vendors, and if a piece of salvage was selling for less than vendor price (250 for common, 1,000 for uncommon and 5000 for rare) I would vendor that as well.

I usually start out with 2 accs, 2-3 dmgs (depending how aggresively I started slotting attacks early on). That is virtually on every Tanker I make. You can skip damages for endRedux if pre-Stamina becomes really unbearable.

For SS doing an SO build (Single Origin enhancements) I usually suggest 1acc, 3 dmg, 1-2 endRedux/recharge (whichever you need more of). This is after you've gotten into Rage. Otherwise I suggest two Accs in the power until then.
