have you looked at why you were repeatedly beaten? Were you in body guard mode when beaten? What kind of blaster was it? Fire? Blasters get aim, which will make it much easier for them to get through your shields.
Mercs can be interesting to pvp with with all their status effects they can kick out, but their damage isn't exactly the highest to balance that all out, so pvp might not be optimal for the set (doesn't mean you cant have some measure of success though).

Don't get too discouraged. A blaster doing hit and run damage beats everything in pvp. With build up + aim your FF is worthless and has no other mitigation other than possible knockback. You have to move slow, keep minions close & in bodyguard mode. Now moving slow & pvp don't mix in this game but if your a MM you have no choice. Also don't stand out in the open if you can help it. Find cover or a choke point to limit the blaster being able to hit you from everywhere.
I should mention that one of my old favorite tactics (not sure if it works anymore since it's been awhile since I've pvp'ed with my MM) with my merc\psn MM would be to make my pets invisible and then go hang out someplace on the map and wait for a hero to swing around and think i was link dead or something. Naturally when they get close enough they'd see my pets...but by then it'd be too late.
Sure this would only work once..but hell it was fun when a blaster would see little old me just sitting there staring at the wall thinking i was vulnerable.

I've been having a lot of fun with this build so far. (this is my first MM, and I`m still very much a noob.) I had my first taste of pvp last night and got owned repeatedly by some sort of blaster. I wasn't expecting it to be quite so bad, but I would definitely like to level her and maybe see if things will be better when I`m closer to endgame and enhanced properly.
So my questions would be: Am I an idiot for leveling this combo? (I`m aware some people find it boring, but I like buffing, so it's all good on that front X3) Will I with the proper practice, knowledge, enhancements, reaction time, and inspirations be able to take on other players in pvp and do decently? (How decently? Lets say I win a third of a time at least against equally well enhanced players.)
Any tips on building it properly? Skills I should avoid/always get? Particular enhancement sets to look for?
How about pve? Will this combo do alright there? Will I be useful to a team?
