Hey all, I'm wanting to come up with a new comedy arc called The Adventures of Commander Cool and his sidekick..Larry. I'm not sure how I could make it comedic without cutscenses so I could use some tips on how I could make it funny.

Info:

Commander Cool is a Superhero thats full of himself and isn't really al that great. He dosen't even have powers.

Larry is a pshychic that talks alot like the Hulk. He ends up doing all the hard work.

Commander Cool's nemesiis are Dr. Evilness, an evil genius in the guise of a desk clerk for Definatelynotevil Contraptions Inc., and The Evil Evil, a wanna-be villain that makes too many monologues.

Patrols and custom critter "boss" fights are your friends. These are the ways you can insert talking NPCs. Patrols will simply spawn and wander around; you control the difficulty, and if you're using standard critters, they're the best option to add talking NPCs.

With custom critters, you can set up a "boss" fight, flag the fight as not needed for completion, and add a custom lieutenant or minion as the "boss" to be defeated, and give that character an even longer set of lines. (Standard critters cannot be used in a boss fight without an actual boss level enemy.)

I like to add in multiple instances of my joke NPCs. This way the lines can be read two or three times (more than that and it might get old). Occasionally, your patrols can step on each other's lines.

I've also used joke clues on occasion, and unnecessary clickies. Before, those clickies were good for badges as well.

Hi,

Another challenge you'll have is finding a role for your player.
<ul type="square">[*]If it's a heroic story, your player will want to do something heroic - probably even outshining Larry the sidekick.[*]If it's a villainous story, your player might be helping the villain (if there's something in it for them), or even taking advantage of everyone.[*]If it's a neutral arc, then the player often still needs a motivation, eg. their life or friends are at risk (such as a Rikti invasion).[/list]None of that makes your story funny, or otherwise, but it's important as it gets your story played. It can also be the hardest or last thing done in an arc like this, since it's easier to focus on the personalities you know (your heroes and villains) than on the player (who could be many things).

Perhaps the player could be the "Larry" person, saving your hero's butt. Or someone additional to factor in. Or even just a hologram projected into their adventures from the AE to provide advice (and of course, save the day). Good luck!
