I noticed this and /bugged immediately. I use Detonation for my blasty types for the Range, the AoE set bonus and that's it. I've already dumped the set on more than one toon, figuring it'd be wekks before they fixed it (if ever).

Many people think Detonation sucks big time but i like it. It is cheap and is good while waiting to slot more expensive stuff. It is also the only AoE set that carries some defense bonuses i think. People says it has not enough +Recharge in the set. They are right but nothing prevents 5 slotting Detonation and adding a level 50 Recharge IO with it.
Anyway, i /bugged it too as soon i noticed it was broken.

Most of the Target AoE set loack good recharge. Javelin Volley and Ragnarok break the mold, but CrAZy expensive.

Yeah noticed that myself when i slotted Detonation for same reason u did. However u go ahead and six slot it, u can pick up what use to be the 5th slot lvl bonus. Much like you i hope they fix it soon, would love to put something else in that sixth slot.
Just confirmed that this is still an issue on Build 19.20090702.2 ~ 7/7/09 (on the Training Room).
