That's not even stacking - just overlapping them. Place one, then place a second so it overlaps. No special tricks or techniques needed.
Unless they were placed at different HEIGHTS. Then stacking comes into play.

I refer to it as "smooshing".
OP - you can overlap nigh near every single thing you can put in your base. Go check the Thread stickied at the top here to see what Cool Objects people have made by "smooshing".

There was an issue with choosing which of the locations to go to. If you weren't absolutely careful with how the overlapping was done, then either only two beacons would attach at all or only the center stone would work. It was aggravating. Also, there was a considerable amount of flicker (although it looked oddly appropriate in this case).

I saw someone else's base that had an arcane telepad with 3 floating
rocks in it. Basically it was 3 telepads occupying 1 spot. I would
like to make this, but I'm not well-versed with stacking in-base.
I tried to search for this, using the forums search function, only to
get a "no matches" result. I even used just one word, 'telepad',
and got the same result. If the thread is still there, could someone
be kind enough to direct me to it?
