nVidia driver woes, again. (7900GS AGP) FIXED
Ian, I have the same card as you do, and it runs great with the 185.85 driver. (I tried the 186.18, and they sucked sewer water.)
Many things worth doing in the world had been declared impossible before they were done.
I want to say I tried them, but I could be wrong and it might have only been the 7600 (which they broke).
The question is, were you having the same issues with the 186 drivers?
I've long suspected it might be a BIOS thing at the root of the problem, somehow, but who knows.

Well, some months ago I had a problem where nVidia's latest drivers would break my cards. (Was running a 6800, was trying to upgrade to a 7600.)
I solved the issue when, luckily, a member of the Steam boards gave me the last known working driver for the 7600, 175.19.
Now I've got myself a spiffy 7900, but the exact same problem has cropped up. Installing the latest drivers breaks anything using DirectX (including the spinning nVidia logo on the control panel), creating holes in geometry and stretched polygons.
The big problem here is that while the 175.19 driver works, it wasn't particularly stable with my 7600 and it's just plain incompatible with Guild Wars (freezes on start-up).
So can anyone recommend me a better driver? Third party, if necessary, since nVidia evidently isn't keen on supporting older cards?
Edited: Driver number for clarity.
Edited 2: Found a wonderful third party driver that fixed all of my problems. Woot!
