Manual Install

Due to a corrupted registry, I had to reinstall Windows XP over my existing copy. Now I have a system that has all my favorite games on it, but none of them are installed!

I don't have the original executable. Is there either a .reg file for CoH, or are there few enough registry entries where I could manually enter them?

For CoH, you can simply move the updater file to the desktop and run it from there. It will ask you where you want to install the game, and you just point it to where you had it before. You shouldn't have to redownload or lose anything you had before (except for a few graphics preferences that were stored in the old registry).

You can run http://download.cityofheroes.com/US/CoH_NA_Setup.exe to install the registry for you.


Once you get it running again, you can make a back up your CoH registry if you want to:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER
> SOFTWARE
>> Cryptic
>>> Coh

Highlight the Coh directory and Export it to a *.reg file.
You can then use it to manually install the game at a later date with the same resolution you had before (and other preferences that are stored in the registry).
