Changing Entrance Room Location?

Is there an easy way of moving the Entrance Room's location?

Currently, I've got an 8x8 plot and my Entrance Room is on the edge, but I'd like to put it in the middle.

I'm gonna have to completely dismantle my base down to the Entrance Room, aren't I?

Maybe not.

Try making the hole in the middle where you want it and "Move" the room. You can't delete it, but you do have the option to move it. As always, you need to make sure that nothing blocks the doorways.

Or upgrade the plot and position the entrance room more in the middle, move the other rooms around and then "upgrade" back down to the 8X8 plot.

You shouldn't have to take your base apart as long as there is enough room on your plot to move the entrance room. I know it stinks with the 8x8 because it gets full fast and then moving a room requires deleting a room. But as long as there is space for the room and you don't have anything blocking the pathing(like stuff on walls) you shouldn't have any problems.

You may have to relocate other rooms to achieve this. If the space where you're trying to place it is large enough, but it's still red, then there is a pathing issue, like stairs, or something on the walls.

All else fails, create another room, say a 1x2 tp room to give you some options for moving rooms around, to allow you to put your entrance where you want it.

Depending on how your rooms are set up at the moment, you might be able to just drag your plot around to get your entrance room where you want it.

Related question...

I'm starting out building my base for my single-player SG. I open up the edit base window. My base plan needs to have the entrance in the middle of the plot, but when I try to "Move Room", nothing happens. It doesn't seem to let me relocate that room (which has nothing but the teleporter in it).

Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

What you want to do La_Baldera is upgrade your plot. When you do this you can select the same size plot that you have now so select that and then move the plot around so that the entrance room is in the middle where you want it. Hope that helps you.

Do you have other rooms in your base? If so, is there anything on the walls that is preventing the creation of a doorway?

Every room MUST be connected to another room. In order for a room to connect to another, a doorway must be created (this creation is done automatically when you are moving the room). In order for a doorway to be created, the wall must not have anything on it.

This worked perfectly! Thanks.

It occured to me later (when I was trying to move some doorways) that I might have been able to work around the issue by temporaily creating "bridges" of rooms that would let me move the entrance and keep it connected.

But the upgrade plot technique worked really well.
