Random power set thought Sonic

Aside from a "Psionic Melee" set that had no summoned weapons at all, I'd rather see a "Psionic Weapons" set than a "Psionic Blades" set, so that it could have many such options, like psychic versions of the hammers from Stone Melee, a DB-style attack, a Focus/Impale style attack (ANY Psionic melee set would have to have a Focus/Impale clone).

I'd love something like "Telekinetic Melee", but since it would almost demand lots of KD/KU/KB, people would whine. But it would lend itself to a Telekinetic Armor secondary with a slow aura, for instance.

I wouldn't make a Psychic Armor set just because we've already got Willpower which covers that niche very nicely.

That's why my own idea would be telekinetic armor, to contrast from Willpower. Willpower operates on the effect of will -- be it natural or supernatural -- on one's own person. It makes you resist attacks on body and mind, it lets you recover from injuries faster.

A Telekinetic Armor would reflect the effect of the will, or the character's psychic ability, on other things, namely bullets, swords, energy blasts, or enemies themselves.

I might do up an idea for it, but I think such a set would be great for a bag of tricks feel like Dark and/or click-o-rama like Regen.

Sounds like a defense set to me actually with that description. Also makes me think of a power like ice slick, where you continuously knock them down - telekinesis is movement with the mind after all.

A pbaoe knockdown power (probably a click, not a toggle) would be great, as would a toggle slow. But TK is also making things *not* move, with your mind. Think of Neo, or Sylar, or Peter stopping bullets telekinetically.

That would still be more akin +def rather than +res because, if you actually stop it, you're not getting hit by it at all. It might be an interesting variation to make 2 of the click sets that utility the 2 traditional damage mitigation methods.

The problem with making a set that is "Psychic Armor" is that you can explain the effects of a set however you choose. If you make an */SD scrapper and choose one of the less visible shields (Dark shield works well) and change the color to an approximation of CoX "Psychic Magenta", you can easily get something close to a Psychic Armor set.

The explanation of a power set means almost nothing compared to the visual and gameplay effects. The backstory for my DM/Regen scrapper is that the black fuzz around his hands is actually aggressive nanofluid that breaks down anything it touches. It's got nothing to do with the netherworld.

Thing about psionic vs sonic though, is that if history is any indication, the devs will give psionic some odd numbers to get it to balance vs the low resistance found to psionic damage.

Actually, psionic resistance is actually rather high across all enemies in the game. Fire is actually the least resisted type (Energy is close). I'm assuming this argument is being brought up for the attack sets, considering armor sets don't really care who or what damage you're putting out. Personally, I don't think damage type should actually reduce damage done whatsoever. If anything, s/l and other highly resisted types should be given a slight buff to account for their highly resisted nature.

Actually, with the I13 changes, psionic resistance is actually pretty common. As an example, Temp Invulnerability actually provides +res (smash/lethal/psionic) in PvP. Tough provides +res(all). There a number of other similar cases.

ooo..i've always wanted to see a power like that..like a reverse force bubble..or a Super Taunt..

on a separate note (thread jack), i'd love to see unique AT's where a person could trade 2 powers from their primary to get 1 power from a different primary (same AT/equal or lesser tier) i.e. a fire/fire tanker could trade to get icicles..

only one of these per account? the purpose being to have a "unique" toon.
