Ignoring anyone is a mistake. You might miss something viral to your cause.
They might just be that big, however, the same way you raise or lower the floor/ceiling can be used to add an entire wall.

I've like using desks, because you can use them as walls and floors. With desk items, they stack naturally. Safes as well. Cabinets and Stone blocks require artificial means to stack them.

I like to use the file cabinets for large scale walling...
the backsides of bookcases make for a nice "paneled" look.
I like using desks and cabinets for my second floors.
All these things will require a little time learning the trick for floating things... Not too tough these days... take a look at the "stacking tools" thread.

My apologies if this has been detailed somewhere else. But I've seen pictures of bases with what appear to be built-in mazes and interior walls. Is there a decorative item that allows this, or are the bases in question simply so massive that they can use the small decorative rooms and doors to achieve this effect?
