Question about Procs and Pets

Hrm... so I realized something while mucking around on my Mercs/Traps MM - namely that Acid Mortar can take both Defense Debuff and Targetted AoE sets.

Now normally, this would be nothing particularly special - but Acid Mortar is pretty much a debuff pet with remarkably low damage. I've also never found much reason to enhance it for anything but Recharge.

However now I'm thinking:

If I slot say... Touch of Lady Grey (Chance for Negative Energy Damage) in Acid Mortar... will the proc actually fire off of the Acid Mortar's attacks?

I'm doubting this will be super-useful or anything, but I'm curious.

My doubt primarily comes from the fact that it's a pet power - and normally goes off when you activate a power. But when you activate Acid Mortar, there's no target.

Anyone tried this?

I would like it would work. The Spectral Terror on my Ill/rad has a proc in it and does do damage when I use it.

Yes, it works. You can monitor it with the chat channel "Pet Damage Inflicted". It has a chance to proc with every shot the mortar makes. Adds a nice chunk of damage.

One thing with all pets - for a pet attack to have a chance to trigger a proc, that attack has to use that set. For Acid Mortar or rains, they have one attack, and any set the summon power takes is a category the attack uses.

However, some more complicated pets, such as Henchmen or the Singularity have several attacks, and for example some henchmen will take -Def IO sets, but only when they use an attack with enhanceable -Def will that chance a trigger of the proc, and not all of their attacks have enhanceable -Def.
