It is mostly to prevent people from abusing the ma system to use only for farming badges. This is why the infamy/influencce, defeats, and other badge types are not progressed through ma.
But they didn't announce a badge issue with MA till just recently. IMO the influence earned should have counted from day one of MA. Most of the farming for influence is to get the influence not the badge. I'm just saying if your working in MA and earning the influence just as you would in regular missions then it should count in there just as it does outside of MA

From the begining, Positron said he didn't want badge farms in MA. So, it was designed to not allow credit for any non-MA badges. I agree with you though, I would love it if inf/heal/sidekick, etc counted for badge credit, but Posi thought it best to go with a blanket...also, there's the cuckolding thing...
