How do I create Allies with Shields?

I have played missions where the ally you rescue has a shield (bubble) which will protect you, and they will follow you.

Would someone share the detailed specifics for how this was done?

Meow Farms do this to make it even easier, and I've only ever seen it on Meow farms...


How do I know this? Farming...

Pssst, he asked how to do something, not how to be ridiculed...there are plenty of other farm pro/con debates out there.

OP: Put an ally in to be rescued. Make it a custom mob. Give it the shield powerset of your choice. Set the AI to follow and passive. The ally is still killable, but won't actively engage in combat, so as long as you keep agro, the ally should be fine.

Day 1 of Mission architect I used Sky Raider Force Field Generators to help with defense. These got removed for obvious reasons so I switched them to Passive Sonic Captives that did pretty much the same thing. After a while I realized having these guys around wasn't needed so I rarely even rescued them.

WIth the changes to Bosses I'm now taking a substantial amount of damage and want to use my allies again, but it looks like these were nerfed as well because the sonic shield from my passive ally no longer adds any resistance to my brute.

Did the patch remove all buffing abilities from all power sets or what? Does anyone have a work around to for this problem?

Is it possible your ally has only 'standard' sonic powers and they moved sonic dispersion to a higher grade like hard or extreme? I haven't tested this but it's a suggestion...

I believe Passive critters can no longer offer buffs to their allies. I seem to recall that change was made a while ago. If you want buffs, you have to make the ally able to attack as well.

It is possible to create an ally that will attack only occasionally, though this seems to be due to less-than-optimal AI and is likely to change if pohsyb and Castle can figure out better algorithms.
