Is this normal (problem with patcher)

Its been awhile since i have tried playing COV, im trying to get it going again and its wanting to download 2.7G of patches. problem is its downloading VEEEEEEEEEEERRRRRRRRRRRYYYYYYYYYY slowly,
ive opened the ports that are listed in the other topics and allowed it through my windows firewall and it still hasnt sped up. any ideas? as it stands now its going to take 20-30 hours to patch and thats way to long.

I started to download the client last night at around 8pm with a 22 hour time frame.....today when I got home from work to check on the proggress, 17 hours after I started the download. the time frame has jumped to 39 hours. at this rate I won't have the client loaded by the time the reactivation week is up

well i finally got it all downloaded then had a currupted pigg file now it has to download another gig of data.. and its saying 8 hours for that...
if they are trying to get people to renew subs they arent doing a very good job of it...

I too am having these issues. I wanted to see if enough had changed in the game over my 3 year absence to warrant picking up the game again. I see the updating process is still every bit a nightmare as it was back then. I'm at 40 hours remaining to update a corrupted pigg that was corrupted during the 19 hour initial update step.

lol what gets me is i was going to come back irregardless of this free event... i didnt even know it was going on.
it would be nice if they would distribute the patches through some kind of a 3rd party source and you could patch manually. but meh...
i even had the bright idea of trying to activate my copy over steam but i cant as i have the retail edition so im burnt > anyhow ill still probably reactivate my sub but im still kinda peeved.

I was going to pay to play the game after the event was over anyway, but I'd rathe not wait until Monday for the game to be downloaded, because whether I'm paying or not, it's going to take forever.
