Battles In MA Working Properly?

Hey all,
Can anyone tell me if the Battles options for MA missions is working properly? My wife and I have be working on a story arc for a while now, and the last mission has several battles between Crey forces and our custom villain group. However, every time we test the mission, ALL of the battles complete 1 second after we get barely close to ONE of them. We actually are far enough away not to see the battles, but see the dialog we wrote for the two factions. When we get closer, ones side of the villains is already defeated and fading away. If this is working as intented, it is very lame.

Isn't there a way to set the two factions against each other, but NOT have them attack, but just look like they are going to (as seen in many of the CoX missions in the game)?

This is really a sticking point, as if there is no way to correct the current form of Battles in MA missions, it makes our story arc we've been working on for a week completely worthless.

Thanks in advance for any help on this.

I have noticed this too with battles, one side (usually my custom faction) will have the battle done with before the PC gets to them :/ - the Unaware / Active text also seems to be firing wonky as I rarely ever see the Unaware text before the Active text shows up (same goes for hostages - I have been looking straignt at a hostage group and seen no text until I 'activated' the mobs and then both popped up)

a couple of things

you can set battles to spawn based on triggers. That way at least all the battles don't go off when the player enters the mission. With a linear map that works fairly well, but not great.

You can also spawn other groups using Fight a Boss objective - you don't have to make the "boss" a boss. But it lets you choose the group that spawns. You can make them enemy so they don't fight the other group, or rogue so that they will fight them if they come across them - but they don't spawn next to them usually. That lets you mix groups without it being a battle.
